Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1:00PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen, and see if your game machine can plug into it. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Screening evening of May 29^th 2021, after the Event Afternoon

May continues to be a wonderful month for watching anime at JAFWA, even with all the inclement weather we had last week. There is just something special about watching you favourite anime, with a Hall full of fellow otaku just outside of social distancing reach.
All the new series we were intending starting this month, have premiered. We apologise so many of them are isekai and 2^nd seasons of a series we have already screened, that was just how people voted in the special survey.
This being the last JAFWA session in May, do recall that we will have this week the usual end of month Survey, along with the Member’s Prize draw.

Quite a few of out members are sad at the news that Kentrou Miura has passed away suddenly, without the chance to finish his very popular manga “Berserk”.

Bunnings Cannington Sausage Sizzle

One of JAFWA’s main fundraisers is coming up on the 5th of June, and we need your support. If you are interested in Volunteering to help JAFWA’s Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, please let the committee know ASAP. It’s a five-person shift, either from 8:00am to 12:00pm, and 12:00pm to 4:00pm or possibly later if permitted.

Annual General Meeting and Elections

Being an incorporated club, JAFWA needs to hold annual elections, which will be occurring in July.
Anyone can nominated to enter the elections, so long as they are:

1. A fully registered and paid up member of JAFWA for 3 months before the election.
2. Resident of WA.

If you haven’t done so before, being involved in a non-for-profit organisational committee is a great way to learn some new skills and be a part of something great. The JAFWA committee hopes to see you at the AGM to discuss the progress of your club, and looks forward to any new blood and ideas for the future of JAFWA.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contract Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.

Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiraremasen)

The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again.

Tonight’s Episode: “Blue Robes and Uncommon Sense ” season 2

The High Priest informs Myne of her duties as a blue-robed priest and shows her an item that will absorb her mana donations to the temple. After finalizing the deal, Myne, accompanied by her retainers, make their way to the library so she can memorize the scriptures, though she ends up distancing herself from them out of distrust. Upon entering the library, she blissfully reads the scripture the entire day, even threatening Gil with her powers when he attempts to take her away for lunch.

That Time I Was Re-incarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) season 2

37-year-old Satoru Mikami died at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster. Now champion of monsters Rimuru Tempest ends the orc war and earns the esteemed title as Slime Chancellor. Now that the Jura Tempest Alliance is growing even further, they will now be meeting the animal kingdom of Eurazania, reuniting with King Gazel, rising tensions between monsters and humans, and Rimuru encountering the strongest enemy he’s ever faced.

The negotiations between Tempest and Eurazania are successful and both countries begin exchanging technologies and establishing trade routes. Some time later, Rimuru pays a visit to Gazel in the Kingdom of Dwargon, unaware that Clayman is preparing another scheme against him and his nation.

Cells at Work season 2 (Hataraku Saibou)

The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she’s not alone… she’s got a whole human body’s worth of cells ready to help out. The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets — everyone’s got to come together if they want to keep you healthy.

This evening’s Episode: “Dengue Fever / Acne”

The cells complain to Mast Cell when she releases excess histamines for a minor problem and causes inflammation, making her angry and vow not to do her job. The body gets bitten by a mosquito that sucks out several blood cells, then infects the body with the Dengue virus. U-1146 investigates a pore that turned into a pimple and finds acne bacteria have enslaved the hair and sebum producing cells to keep them fed on sebum. The bacteria had also killed several Neutrophils and turned them into pus.

I’m a Spider, So What? (Kuma desu ga, nanika)

After a Japanese classroom was destroyed by a mysterious explosion all the students reincarnated as humans on a fantasy world except for a female student who had the lowest reputation on the classroom, she was reincarnated as a spider monster. Being the weakest monster on the dungeon she need to survive using all her human intellect and courage.

Tonight’s Episode: “Earth Wyrm (Dragon), Bad News? ”

After evolving, Nameless is suddenly attacked by a group of humans and while fleeing from them accidentally falls down a hole. She now finds herself in the dungeon’s lower stratum, filled with monsters that utterly outmatch her. However, she then crosses paths with a high-level earth dragon named Araba, who easily kills them. At the Academy, Shun’s class is having magic practice by hitting a target with water magic. However, the class is then suddenly attacked by an earth dragon, which kills the teacher.

retro – Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena)

Utena Tenjou, a teenage girl who expresses her desire to be a prince through her strong-willed personality and tomboyish manner of dress. She finds herself drawn into a series of sword duels at Ohtori Academy, to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the “Rose Bride” who possesses the “power to revolutionize the world”.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mitsuru’s Growing Pains”

Elementary schooler Mitsuru is desperate to become an adult so that he may get close to Nanami. His increasingly desperate attempts to enter the grown-up world of love and sexuality lead him to Mikage.

Fire Force (En’en no Shouboutai, literally “Blazing Firefighting Corps”) – season 2

In the year 198 of the Age of the Sun, Tokyo is a crowded cosmopolis. But the world’s most populous city is threatened by devils that cause people to burst into flame at random. The only ones who can stop it are the Pyrofighters, a team of specialized firefighters. The young Shinra, blessed with the ability to ignite his feet and travel at the speed of a rocket, wants nothing more than to be a hero, and knows that this is the place for him. But he’s not the best at following orders.

Tonight’s Episode: “A New Flashpoint ”

Obi discuss the implications of the appearance of another Pillar with the Fire Defence Agency Chief. Meanwhile, school student Inca Kasugatan uses her uncanny ability of smell to detect the faint odour of a house that is about to burst into flames. She gathers her accomplices, Panda and Sancho, and they head to the location, preparing to burgle the property once it catches alight.

Urasekai Picnic (Otherside Picnic)

College student Sorawo Kamikoshi has been exploring the strange dream-like world she calls the Otherside ever since she stumbled upon it during her days as an urban explorer, but her most recent trip has gotten her into serious trouble. That’s when she meets Toriko Nishina, a strange young woman searching the Otherside for her missing friend. Toriko helps Sorawo out of her predicament, and Sorawo falls into helping Toriko in her mission. But each journey into the Otherside brings strange new dangers and skills, and Sorawo isn’t sure that the search is worth it.

Tonight’s Episode: “Surviving Lady Hasshaku ”

After the events of their last trip to the “Otherside”, Sorawo’s right eye now turns blue and Toriko’s left hand turns translucent at random. The two head off to sell their mysterious cube to a girl named Kozakura, who specializes in Otherside phenomena and pays handsomely for the cube, but has no solution for their recent body modifications. Toriko tells Sorawo that she’s raising money to fund her Otherside expeditions to find her friend Satsuki, who disappeared in the recent past.

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World (Ri:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu) season 2

Slacker Subaru has been mysteriously transported into a fantasy world, and involved in the politics of royal ascension, and magical terrorist expression. After learning more behind the Death Loop and Witches of Sin, Subaru vows to save Emilia and his friends from further doom.

Tonight’s Episode: “Parent and Child”

Subaru finds himself back in Japan without his memories of Lugnica, causing him to revert into a Hikikomori. Every day his father, Kenichi, and mother, Naoko, try to encourage him to go back to school, but to no avail. Something is different this time, however, as Subaru finds himself having headaches whenever he tries to run from his problems.

Moriarty the Patriot (Yuukoku no Moriaati)

James Moriarty is an orphan who assumes the name William James Moriarty when he and his younger brother are adopted into the Moriarty family. As a young man, he seeks to remove the ills caused by England’s strict class system.

Tonight’s Episode: “A Rare Breed ”

In the past, the Viscount of Belfor rejected Burton and his wife Michelle’s request to see his doctor for their ill son due to Burton being his gardener. As a result, the son died. In the present, William arrives in Durham where he learns about Michelle. When he catches up with Louis, he receives a dinner invitation from the viscount.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part 1

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline

Tonight’s Episode: “The Door of Hope ”

Reiner thinks about his past and a conversation he had with his mother on the curse of being an Eldian. He entered the military training program where selected candidates were chosen to become Titans. Porco was devastated when Reiner was chosen to be the Armored Titan. Commander Magath then sent Annie Leonhart, Bertholdt Hoover, Reiner, and Marcel Galliard on a mission to reclaim the Founding Titan on Paradis, but Marcel, saving Reiner, is devoured by Ymir’s Pure Titan.
