Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

Here it is, once more, when we have the Hall from 1PM to ~4PM on Saturday, for Make your own Fun afternoon!

This time Sally and Leanne have managed to recruit one of the local cosplay groups to come along and use our facilities to have a cosplay shoot. He is a chance to come along and join in.
All for a gold coin donation (chocolate coins will be confiscated).

Screening

Below is the program for the evening of Saturday September 29^th, 2018.

We hope you came along for the Event Afternoon and enjoyed the cosplay activities.

This week we will both be having our monthly Member’s Prize draw, as well as a survey toto see what our dear JAFWAites like about our program and preview items. As per usual, the survey will start at ~7PM, and we request that you will in the survey forms with an ascending set of consecutive integers, with number “1” against your favourite show, number “2” against your second favourite, until you run out of survey shows, or don’t think you can properly rate the remainder on the survey form.
Thus this week’s preview item will be held before the Dinner Break. Try not to be too sad about the two regular series that are finishing tonight.

The Spring Equinox has passed, and our old enemy the Sun is gaining ascendancy. Still, it means it should be a pleasant enough night.

Japanese Film Festival

Each year the Japanese Film Festival tours the major cities of Australia. It will reach Perth soon. See the list of movies they will be showing at various locations.

Japanese Calendars

JAFWA member Dale is ready to do his annual bulk ordering of calendars from Japan. The entire list has not yet been released, and there may yet be some release date changes. However, I should be able to order anything from this site if people would like. Like the DVD orders, Dale prefers about a 50% deposit up front. Don’t forget that the exchange rate sometimes changes between now and release date.

CardCaptor Sakura: Clear Card

The long=awaited sequel. Sakura and Syaoran are starting junior high school. With the Final Judgment passed, Sakura thinks school life will be quiet, but then all her cards suddenly turn blank. The mysterious new power she discovers will change how she thinks about her powers.

This evening’s Episode: “Sakura and the Upside-Down Penguin”

On their way home from school, Sakura, Tomoyo, Akiho and Syaoran meet Kaito who is returning from shopping. Once back home, Syaoran contacts Eriol, revealing that he sensed some magical power from Kaito, and Eriol suspects him to be a powerful member of an English magician society of dubious repute. Meanwhile, Sakura’s childhood memories are becoming topsy turvey.

Sora Yorimo Tooi Basho (aka A Place Further than the Universe)

Mari Tamaki is a second-year high school student who wants to make the most out of her youth but is usually too afraid to do so. One day, she meets Shirase Kobuchizawa, a girl who has been saving up to travel to Antarctica, where her mother disappeared three years ago. Joined by two other girls, Hinata Miyake and Yuzuki Shiraishi, they join an expedition headed towards the Antarctic.

As the girls receive video messages from their friends and families, Hinata acts strangely when some old acquaintances of hers call, after which Shirase spots her letting out her frustrations in private. Concerned about Hinata, Shirase gets caught looking at e-mail sent by Hinata’s former teammates in the track club.

preview item – Tsukomogami Kashimasu (We Rent Tsukumogami)

Fukagawa ward of old Edo (present-day Tokyo) is prone to fire and flooding, so residents rent everyday items like pots, futons, and clothing from shops instead of purchasing them, so as not to impede them when they flee. Okou and Seiji, an older sister and younger brother, run one such rental shop called Izumoya. However, mixed in with their inventory are tsukumogami, objects that have turned into spirits after a hundred years of existence. The siblings sometimes lend these sentient items to customers. Both Okou and Seiji can see and talk to these spirits, and other tsukumogami often come to the store after hearing of the famed siblings.

This evening’s Episode: “Rikyuu Mouse”

Sakuma Katsusaburou, a samurai engaged to the old Hachiya family has a problem – a treasured netsuke of a mouse has sprouted legs and run away. But why and where would the mouse run, and is there more to this arranged marriage than it first appears?

ReLIFE

IKaizaki Arata is 27 years old and has held a full time job for a grand total of 3 months (quitting because it “wasn’t a fit for his talents”). He spends his days getting turned down at job interviews, lying to his friends about having a job, and moping around his apartment. When his parents finally get sick of sending him money he is thrown a lifeline by Yoake Ryou, a representative of the RELife Company. RELife gives jobless deadbeats like Arata a new lease on life… By giving them a pill that makes them look like teenagers again and having them repeat high school.

Tonight’s Episode: “Need”

Everyone is having fun at the cultural festival and the class’ English-style cafe, but Chizuru and Arata can’t stop thinking about being erased from their friends’ memories. Not knowing that each other is a ReLIFE subject.

Death March Kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody)

Ichiro Suzuki is a programmer who was tasked with fixing several bugs in two MMORPGs his company is preparing for publication. While taking a nap, he somehow wakes up in another world as Satou Pendragon, with what looks like the menu screen of the game he was working on appearing before his inner eye. Due to cheat codes, his level jumps to 310 and he becomes extremely wealthy. Satou decides to hide his level, and plans to live peacefully and meet new people. However, the return of a demon king, may cause a nuisance to Satou’s plans.

Tonight’s movie: “Love That Started With a Death March”

Satou is shown around the fantasy town by the Zena, the girl mage he rescued. But religious zealots, defenseless slaves, and labyrinth generating demons will upset the day.

Sword Art Online side-story – Gun Gale Online

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s movie: “Applause” Finale

Final battle between Pitohui and Llenn, unarmed but with P-chan on the ground between them. Squad Jam 2 will end with a bang. But in the real world, what will be the relationship between the players of Llenn, Fukarifoh, M and even Pitohui?

Lupin the Third – Part V

The series is set in modern-day France, and follows the thief Arsène Lupin III, and his associates the marksman Daisuke Jigen, the swordsman Goemon Ishikawa XIII, the con artist Fujiko Mine along with his nemesis Inspector Koichi Zenigata, and are joined by the Ami Enan, a teenage hacker.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Killers Gather in the Wasteland”

The online Marco Polo game, Happy Deathday, is tracking Lupin and Co in Bwanda as the various professional killers try to guarantee that Lupin dies on the correct day. Meanwhile, Zenigata decides to go on holiday, to Bwanda. And don’t forget Fujiko.

Overlord

Momonga, master of the Ainz Ooal Gown guild, was logged in to the Virtual Reality MMO Yggdrasil on the day it closed. Instead of being logged out he found his VR game had somehow become a real world that he was now trapped in. As a massively over-powered Lich Lord, there’s very little that can threaten him, so Momonga begins exploring the world surrounding his guild headquarters and meeting with its inhabitants in the hopes of finding anyone else from Earth trapped in this world with him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Confusion and Understanding”

Ainz and Albedo find Shalltear but Ainz states that even though Shalltear is under mind control, she was left behind without any orders. But Ainz finds that he may not be able to save Shalltear, and fears he may not be able to defeat her.

Mahoi Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku (Magical Girl Raising Project)

Himekawa Koyuki plays a popular social game known as the Magical Girl Raising Project, that secretly has the ability to grant players a 1-in-10,000 chance of becoming a real-life magical girl. Each of the magical girls possess unique abilities and earn Magical Candies by protecting people and performing good deeds. However, shortly after Himekawa Koyuki becomes the magical girl Snow White, the administration has decided that sixteen magical girls in a certain city is too many, and the number needs to be reduced…

Tonight’s Episode: “File not found” Finale

As Ripple goes to confront Swim Swim, Fav informs Snow White that he is actually a scout for the Magical Girl Recruitment and Training Project, where successful magical girls are either recruited into the World of Magic or made into a Master to oversee the next exam.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Diamond is Unbreakable (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Diamond is Unbreakable)

It’s the year 1999, 11 years after Jotaro Kujo’s desperate fight against Dio in Egypt. Jotaro meets with Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of his grandfather Joseph Joestar. He discovers that Josuke also has the same “Stand” power and that a new threat is surfacing in Morioh City.

Tonight’s Episode: “Cats Love Yoshikage Kira”

The mysterious cat has invaded the house of the disguised Kira, attacking his unsupecting “wife”. After being buried in the garden, the cat mysteriously comes back to life in the form of a strange plant known as Stray Cat, possessing the ability to control air. His “son” Hayato barely manages to avoid being discovered by Kira, whom he realises is not his real father.
