Screening of Saturday 15th June 2024

Screening on the evening of Saturday, June 15th 2024

Last week was a rather interesting one, where the attending audience of JAFWA did vote on which episode of the 3 new series to watch. We were bemused with “Shuumatsu Train”, charmed by “Spice and Wolf” and suitably thrilled with “Witch and The Beast”. That won’t happen this week with the 4th new series introduced this month, as this one will definitely start at episode #1.

This week we are going to also try and fit in the one and only preview item that June can accommodate, since the second of the “Attack on Titan” movies will take up so much of our program at the end of the month. Don’t forgot to be here when JAFWA tees off at just after 4PM this Saturday, with both our usual program and the special inclusions:

  1. Our June preview episode will be for “Ooi! Tonbo“, where a local island kid gets involved with the sport of golf.
  2. And our new regular series will be the 3rd season of the oft request “KonoSuba” where our re-incarnated protagonist learns to live and survive in a swords and sorcery world with some very “unique” companions.
Ooi! Tonbo
Konosuba 3

A fixture of the Perth fandom scene for many years, and a long-time supporter of JAFWA, we are saddened by the news that Tokyo Underground is closing. Their final day of trading is going to be at the end of this month, June 30th, and they have already begun marking down prices for the final sale. We encourage you to check this out.

TU closing

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay did in March, and the one coming in November, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan in advance please.

The other big decision coming up is the JAFWA annual election to be held during the Dinner Break of the JAFWA screening of July 20th. This will be later in the evening after the AGM that we need all signed up JAFWA members to attend when it starts in the afternoon at 2PM in the same Hall.

Reunited after fifty years only to see them wither and die, Frieren begins to ponder the nature of connections at a time when it’s already too late to say goodbye.

This Evening’s Episode:Like a Fairy Tale

Frieren and her party continue to travel north, and Frieren explains the Elven race has been declining since due to their long lives, they are too apathetic to even reproduce. They pass by another village with statues of her and her original party who celebrate “Liberation Day”.
