We have seen Elliot’s sponsored night of anime, and the audience appreciation of his anime selection was overwhelmingly positive. We thank Elliot for his taste and wish him many more Happy Birthday’s.
But this week JAFWA’s returns to its regular screening, as there were a couple of cliff-hangers our loyal watchers want resolved. Though we have decided to squeeze in a preview episode due to strong interest.

Our Japanese gastrophiles are more than a little interested that the new Ginza Nana Alley Behind the Pier Street carpark and next to the Ramen shop at shop, 3, Ground Level, 100/104 Murray St, Perth WA 6000. There is even a promotional review.

Last Minute BIG news is that our good friends at Luna Cinemas, Leederville (155 Oxford Street, Leederville. 6007) are supplying us with some double passes for a preview session of the award winning anime film Ghost Cat Anzu to be screened Saturday, 23 November with a 10.30am arrival for an 11.00am film start. These double passes may be won by attending JAFWA this Saturday.
Luna merely asks of the winners that after watching the movie that you please provide: 1.concise, honest feedback on the film you’ve been invited to; 2. review lengths can vary from a sentence to a star review. 3. Additionally, please inform us of the channels where you plan to share your coverage.

This week we have a bizarre preview item, and as is common with first episodes it has a few risque moments to make it memorable. Also, the battle with the boss monsters will require two episodes of “Go! Go! Loser Ranger” to be shown.r

‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess (Hime-sama Goumon mo Jikan desu)

In an ongoing battle between the humanity’s Imperial Army and the demonic Hell-hordes, the princess from the army has been captured along with her holy sword Ex. Since regular torture is prohibited by the prisoner of war treaty between the two parties, the grand inquisitor, Torture Tortura, employs unusual “torture” (in air quotes) techniques.

This evening’s Episode:Episode 10

Princess fights Youki and Inki on the beach with toy swords to pop the balloons on their heads, in exchange for any request on victory or divulging a secret on defeat. Louch Brittan is caught outside the castle by the Hell-Lord while returning from an idol release event, and they somehow end up talking about anime. Vanilla Peschutz wants to play cards, so she decides to “torture” princess with the temptation of playing cards.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Furiiren)

Frieren

For ten years, elf mage Frieren traveled with Himmel the hero, Heiter the priest, and Eisen the dwarf warrior as they quested to destroy the demon king. At the end of their journey, Frieren set out on her own, not quite understanding how differently time flows for her versus her human companions. Reunited after fifty years only to see them wither and die, Frieren begins to ponder the nature of connections at a time when it’s already too late to say goodbye.

This Evening’s Episode:Perfect Replicas

It is revealed the dungeon contains a creature known as a Spiegel that can read the memories of those who enter the dungeon and use that information to craft perfect replicas of the raiders. Denken’s party attempt to confront the Frieren replica but are forced to withdraw. While exploring, Frieren uncovers a hidden section of the dungeon containing a long lost mural. She, Fern, and Sense then make their way to the bottom of the dungeon where Denken’s party is waiting. There is one who believes they can destroy the Frieren replica.

Spice and Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf (“Ookami to Koushinryou: merchant meets the wise wolf”)

The life of a traveling merchant is a lonely one, a fact with which Kraft Lawrence is well acquainted. Wandering from town to town with just his horse, cart, and whatever wares have come his way, the peddler has pretty well settled into his routine—that is, until the night Lawrence finds a wolf goddess asleep in his cart. She strikes up a bargain with the merchant to lend him the cunning of “Holo the Wisewolf” to increase his profits in exchange for taking her along on his travels. Lawrence soon learns, though, that having an ancient goddess as a traveling companion can be a bit of a mixed blessing.

Tonight’s Episode:Church Teachings and Memories of Father

Unable to find information about Diendran Abbey, Lawrence plans to travel on. But first it is confession time. Holo may be too much for a servant God, in her search for home. Elsa and Evan’s relationship embarrasses Holo. But the threat of the Enberch town is fast approaching.

Bye Bye, Earth (“Bai Bai, Aasu”)

Despite having incredible fighting skills and the strength to wield the enormous sword Runding, Belle Lablac has grown up as an outcast due to being the only human in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Desperate to find a place where she belongs, she goes on a quest to find others like her.

Tonight’s Episode:Examiner of Curses, Blessings, and their Shapes

After the battle, they fight duels to honor the dead, but Belle goes home when she learns Gaff killed Adonis’ father. Belle meets a sheltered girl named Sherry who seems to not know how to do anything. Belle learns Sherry is the princess. Sherry thanks her with a beautiful song, and Belle comments that singing takes a toll on her, just as Gaff comes to take Sherry home.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! (“Sentai Daishikkaku”)

Thirteen years ago, the Villainous Army of Evil attempted to invade Earth, faced by the Super Sentai squadron known as the Divine Dragon Rangers and their super weapons, the Divine Tools. The evil army, however, was defeated within a year, all of its Executives wiped out, and the surviving (and almost immortal) foot soldiers have been forced ever since to reenact their defeat to the Keepers in front of a crowd of spectators every Sunday. Until one foot soldier rebels.

Tonight’s Episodes:It’s Showtime for Blue Keeper!” and “On the Road to My Justice!

Given no other option, XX takes D and Blue Keeper to where Peltrola is hiding. Peltrola reveals he has evolved since then and produces a massive army of clones to fight the Blue Keeper. When XX brings D to meet Peltrola, D betrays and kills the Peltrola clone for the years of betrayal. One of the Peltrola clones tries to escape to the surface but is confronted by the Junior Cadets. Another clone tries to escape through the pipes but is stopped by Shion and the other trainees. D joins them as he states to himself that the only side he is fighting for is himself. Blue Keeper’s origin story is shown as he continues his fight and destroy the remaining Peltrola clones just as D appears to challenge him.

Kaiju No.8 (“Kaijuu Hachigou”)

The story follows Kafka Hibino, who after ingesting a parasitic creature, gains the ability to turn into a kaiju, he must now navigate using his power while trying to become part of an organization that eliminates kaiju to fulfill a promise he made with a childhood friend. Now he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.

Tonight’s Episode:Welcome to the Defense Force

Kafka tries to defend himself long enough to escape without hurting the vice-captain. Soshiro informs Mina that he suspects that Kaiju No. 8 might be a daikaiju, a rare and powerful type of kaiju. Reno and Iharu who are recovering in a hospital. The Third Division holds a party to celebrate their success and Reno and Iharu’s recovery. Soshiro announces that Kafka is now officially part of the Defense Force due to his contributions in the mission and is later promoted.

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode:That’s How Love Starts, Ya Know!

After a bad breakup with her boyfriend, Momo Ayase briefly defends a loner student from some bullies. Shortly after the period ends, the two get into an argument over an occult magazine, as the student believes in the existence of extraterrestrial aliens while Momo believes in the existence of supernatural entities. Momo and the student then challenge each other to prove their respective beliefs are real, with Momo going to an abandoned hospital to contact a UFO and the student going to an isolated tunnel to find a spirit. Pity it all works.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru Made ni Shitai 100 no Koto)

Surviving a zombie apocalypse beats being a wage slave any day. After spending years slaving away for a soul-crushing company, Akira’s life has lost its luster. But when a zombie apocalypse ravages his town, it gives him the push he needs to live for himself. Now Akira’s on a mission to complete all 100 items on his bucket list before he…well, kicks the bucket.

Tonight’s Episode:Hometown of the Dead I

As the quartet settles into Akira’s village, they meet other survivors from the nearby city and slowly get to know them. That evening, Akira listens to his father talk about his dream of wanting to be an astronaut and how small their world really is. Meanwhile, the other group led by Kanta Higurashi, Akira and Kencho’s former university classmate, take down the barriers blocking the tunnel and soon lead the zombies to the village.

Chainsaw Man (Chensaa Man)

In a world where Devils (Akuma) are born from human fears. Devils are usually dangerous and malevolent, their power is proportional to the fear they incite. However, humans can form contracts with them to use their power, and there are individuals specialising in hunting and employing them, called Devil Hunters. A Devil may, in certain conditions, inhabit the body of a dead human, gaining some of their memories and personality; such a creature is called a Fiend.

Tonight’s Episode:Gunfire

Denji refuses Himeno’s sexual advances. The next morning, Himeno forgets everything due to her being drunk. Meanwhile, the Gun Devil has coordinated an attack to exterminate the Tokyo Public Safety Devil Hunters, as they are narrowing in on his location.
