Screening

The tentative JAFWA program for Saturday 27th July 2013 is below. To be held
in the Collins Street Community Center on Collins Street just off Canning
Highway in South Perth.

JAFWA has a social afternoon before the screenings from 12:30 to 4:30. It is
make your own fun, but some people will be bringing games (video or otherwise),
crafts and costuming. Try making a cosplay costume for the evening.

All items in the original Japanese language with English subtitles.

Things of Note

  • 27th July – Movie night – Evangelion 3.0.

The AGM starts at 6pm and will be held at the Ernest Johnson Scout Hall
Pilgrim Street South Perth (located on the edge of Ernest Johnson Oval and
behind the South Perth Hospital).

21st September – Nodame Cantabile: Finale starts

Synopsis

Hyouka

Unable to say no to his elder sister, Oreki Hotaro joins his school’s
Classic Literature Club to prevent it from being shut down. And despite his
earnest desire to avoid expending any energy at all, the other members of the
club will drag him along on all manner of mysteries. Making good use of the
deductive skills he refuses to believe he possesses.

Tonight’s Episode:The Juumonji Incident

The Classics Club has won the cooking contest, in part due to the last
minute assistance of H?tar?. However the Cooking Club has become the latest
victim of theft by ‘Juumonji’. H?tar?does his best to suppress Chitanda’s
curiosity by pointing out they don’t have time to chase down a thief with all
the anthologies to sell, but Satoshi suggests that solving the mystery could be
the publicity they need to sell all 200 copies. No matter how much H?tar?
dislikes being made into a celebrity.

Fairy Tail

Magic and mayhem in the nation of Fiore. The members of the infamous
mage’s guild Fairy Tail spend their days sorting out problems for the
residents of Magnolia and battling the odd apocalyptic demon or dark guild. Of
course they don’t let little things like that get in the way of having
fun.

Tonight’s Episode:The Great River of Stars is for Pride

Code ETD stands for Exceed Total Destruction, and the plan is well underway.
The one snag is the key that will send the Fairy Tail Lacrima slamming into the
Exceed’s home is currently in the possession of Coco, who is not keen on the
plan whilst Pantherlilly is endangered by it. She has also run into Lucy, who
sees a kid being chased by an Edolas minister and misunderstands exactly who’s
key he is after, and leaps to her defense. Meanwhile, at the Fairy Tail
Lacrima, Gajeel is locked in battle with Pantherlilly … and having the time
of his life.

Uchyuu Kyoudai (Space Brothers)

As kids Mutta and Hibito Nanba made a promise, that they would both become
astronauts. 19 years later Hibito is on the verge of fulfilling that promise
but Mutta is not doing nearly so well, that is until he is accepted into
Japan’s astronaut training program.

Tonight’s Episode:Let’s Talk About Space

Hoshika and a colleague are on their way to the control room to take over
from Tsurumi. As they walk they discuss Furuya’s handwritten message asking for
replacement glasses for Fukuda, Hoshika wondering why he didn’t just ask, and
his companion wondering how Director Nasuda will respond. When they arrive,
Tsurumi invites them to look at footage from the first test, where Mutta
claimed to have calculated the time from the bus’s odometer. They now know he
lied and need to decide how this should affect his score.

Movie: Evangelion 3.0 You Can(not) Redo

Radio chatter details the flight paths of two orbital bodies, Pod 02-Dash
and Pod 8. The latter failed to achieve sufficient altitude and will be unable
to fully participate in the operation. 02-Dash must complete the mission solo.
Their target is an object floating in low earth orbit. As it begins re-entry,
02-Dash fires and then jettisons booster rockets to keep descent to a tolerable
speed. Alongside all the other radio chatter, a person can be heard quietly
singing. Suddenly there is activity below the target, and high altitude bombing
of 02-Dash commences, followed by an interceptor capable of piercing an
AT-Field. The pilot within rips off their helmet as the real battle begins

Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World)

A thousand years into the future all mankind possesses psychic powers, and
the people live in idyllic splendor. But the path that led to this tranquil
life was not so perfect, and the world that Saki and her friends live in may
not be as gentle and pleasant as it seems.

Tonight’s Episode:Afterimage

Having gotten assurances that Mamoru will not be harmed, Saki returns to his
makeshift dwelling out in the snow only to find it, and Mamori and Maria, gone.
Erasing all trace of the igloo this quickly requires Cantus, convincing Satoru
and Saki that their missing friends are still alive, and so they set out to
search for them. The effort of pushing herself to travel back and forth across
the snowy landscape finaly takes its toll on Saki and she collapses in the
snow, taking the time to reflect the the final words Maria said to her before
she returned to the village. As they rest and have lunch, Saki notices a
queerat some distance off observing them, when it dissapears behind a snow bank
they set off in pursuit.

Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

The entirety of mankind lives encased within a series of fortified walls
which protect them from the Titans, giant humanoid monsters who devour people,
that roam the world beyond the outer wall. But now, after nearly a hundred
years of relative safety, new Titans have appeared. The security of the walls
is a thing of the past, and mankind may be facing extinction.

Tonight’s Episode:A Small Blade: Battle of Trost – Part 3

The evacuation of Trost is complete. There were no civilian casualties …
but numerous soldiers lost their lives. And now that her duty is complete,
Mikasa goes to join the frontline units. To find Eren. At the same time, the
captain in charge of the Supply Depot is evacuating behind the rear wall and
leaving his soldiers to defend the facility on their own, going so far as to
threaten to kill a soldier who merely hints at his cowardice. The supply depot
provides gas for the 3D Manoeuvre Gear of the frontline troops, if their gas
runs out they are as good as dead.

Psycho-Pass

In a future where the psychological profiling system Sybil determines your
place in society, or your removal for the good of society, new police force
recruit Akane Tsunemori finds herself facing both the challenge of catching
madmen loose in the city, and of working alongside those deemed half mad
already. All the while dealing with the consequences of a society that will
lock you up or kill you for thinking bad thoughts…

Tonight’s Episode:And Then, Silence

The new murders are confirmed to be using the same preservation chemicals as
in the Specimen Case and the police assume it’s the same killer. The true
culprit, meanwhile. has stepped up her pace, and there is now a police presence
at her school. As Rikako calmly works on her painting, Makishima notes that it
was to be expected, since two students from there have turned up dead in the
same manner. He asks why she focused solely on girls from her own school, and
she explains it is a reaction to the school ‘sculpting’ their students into
‘ideal women’.
