Screening of Saturday 26th September 2026

Screening earlier on the evening of Saturday, 26th September 2026.

Until the end of October JAFWA will be operating on Winter Hours – ie screening starts at ~4:15PM.
Though we may have a survey regarding that.

The Spring weather continues at JAFWA, especially since the Equinox will now have passed, which would be the official Season start in Japan.
Last week, it appeared that the cherry trees on Collins Street were in full blossom. I don’t know how much longer it may occur. It is best to view the Sakura by daylight. NOTE JAFWA can not provide Sake.

As is typical at this JAFWA screening at the end of each month, we will perform a couple of extra activities:
Firstly during the Dinner Break we will hold the usual survey to find out what anime we have shown at JAFWA is more popular than others, both current shows and preview episode that we have recently screened that you can rate in a scalar fashion (Hindu-Arabic numerals, one-based with ascending numbers representing less popular titles).
Secondly, there is the monthly Member’s Prize Draw. Please come along for both.

This week’s JAFWA program sees a regular item ready to leave our program, as our Korean webtoon, animated by a Chinese studio, dubbed into Japanese and finally subtitled into English comes to a conclusion.
And even though we are hoping to finish many regular series by the end of the Year, we will include a preview episode of some other anime recently produced in Japan. This week we have a story of yesteryear, when the Mongols took control of half of Eurasia, and what happened to the peoples that they conquered and enslaved.

Who made me a Princess
A witch in Mongol

If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay, Elliot and Dale did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally have done, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Below is the draft program for the evening of Saturday September 26th, 2026.
