Until the end of September JAFWA will be operating on Winter Hours – ie screening starts at ~4:15PM.
Though we may have a survey regarding that.

Welcome to Spring weather at JAFWA, Even though the Equinox has not yet happened, which would be the official Season start in Japan.

Last week, according to the Sally report, the cherry trees on Collins Street were in blossom. It is best to view the Sakura by daylight. NOTE JAFWA can not provide Sake.

Last week we started all the new regular September shows, and this week’s JAFWA program continues the wonderfulness.
And to add spice to the program, we will include a preview episode of some other anime recently produced in Japan. In this case a story about post-apocalyptic Japan that has fragmented into three competing kingdoms, and the struggle of a minor bureaucrat to unify the warring country with exceptional eloquence and vast political knowledge.

If you would like to showcase the anime that holds great meaning and value to you, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay, Elliot and Dale did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally have done, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). Dates of Interest

Barring a resurgence of COVID-19 pestilence, these fannish events of interest are scheduled to happen:

• September 7^th to 20^th 2026 — If perchance you are down South and unable to attend JAFWA, perhaps the various events that the South West Japan Festival might soothe you.
• Transformers Day September 17^th 2026 — To commemorate the 40^th anniversary of “Transformers the movie”, many cinemas will be showing a special 4K version. Ticket pre-sales start August 7^th.
• Saturday October 3^rd 2026 — JAFWA having a Bunnings BBQ fundraiser down at Cannington. Come for the sausage sizzle.
• Saturday October 31^st 2026 1pm->4:30 — JAFWA having another make your own fun Event Arvo in the Hall before JAFWA screening.

Who Made me a Princess? (In Japanese: Aru Hi, Ohime-sama ni Natteshimatta Ken ni Tsuite, in Korean: Eoneu Nal Gongjuga Doeeobeolyeossda, in Chinese: Mófaa Goungzhuu de Xiao Fánnao)

The story follows Athanasia de Alger Obelia, a young princess executed by her father, Claude de Alger Obelia, the cold-blooded emperor of the Obelian Empire. However, Athanasia is reincarnated as her baby-self and given a second chance at the same life. Athanasia must use all of her wit and cunning to survive in the palace and to prevent her own death.

This evening’s Episode: “Claude’s Precious Memory“

Claude visits Aug to offer the first wheat of the harvest at Aug’s Wellspring. Lucas traces the black magic back to his own tower and finds evidence of the sinister man. Meanwhile, Claude and Athanasia also visit the tower which is built over Aug’s Wellspring, which Lucas has protected for generations. Athanasia and Claude offer the wheat as thanks, but the black magic placed in her hair ribbon lures in Dream Lotuses from under the water.

Draw This, Then Die! (Kore Kaite Shine)

Ai Yasumi is a first-year high school student living on Izu ?shima, an island that is part of Tokyo prefecture. She loves to read manga, but a certain event triggered her to start thinking about creating manga. The world that awaits her and the pain and joy of creating works of art opens up. But that single decision sets off a chain of encounters that will shatter her assumptions about art, genius, and what it truly means to create.

Ai’s favourite manga author and her strictest teacher are one and the same person. How to take advantage of the situation? Ai draws manga for the first time in order to convince Teshima-sensei to become the manga club’s advisor.

Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen Dai-San-Bu Ryuushu no Youjo) season 4

The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again. Now she has become Rosemyne, the adopted daughter of a Duke.

Rosemyne continues her duties as a noble and high bishop. But there is also the high-stakes, magical collection of rare ingredients required for her jureve—the special magical potion she needs to completely dissolve her hardened mana and cure her fragile health. Because certain ingredients only appear during specific seasons, the “winter collection” is both dangerous and crucial.

The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife (Toumei Otoko to Ningen Onna: Sonouchi Fuufu ni Naru Futari‘)

In a world where humans, demi-humans and monsters co-exist, Shizuka Yakou is a quiet and bashful woman who works at a small detective agency. Her employer, Tounome, is the refined and courteous owner of the agency, who possesses the unusual ability to turn invisible. Nier: Automata Ver1.1a

In the year 11945 on a post-apocalyptic Earth abandoned by humanity. Earth has been occupied by aliens, who fight using an army of Machine Lifeforms. Androids, created by humans, fight against the Machine Lifeforms, with the conflict turning into a prolonged proxy war. The latest addition to the android forces is YoRHa, an elite android fighting force based in the orbital Bunker and communicating directly with the Council of Humanity on the Moon.

The Machines are shown gaining more intelligence as they increasingly mimic human behavior. At the Resistance camp, 2B and 9S debrief Lily and Jackass on the human-like Machines they encountered. Jackass muses on the possibility of making peace with the Machines, but 9S flatly rejects the idea. 2B and 9S are then ordered to scout a nearby amusement park to investigate the disappearance of an android soldier.

Which gets her executed. Aoteru is finally moved to act.

The Ghost in the Shell (Koukaku Kidoutai)

In a near future, technology has firmly taken root into society at large. Cybernetic implants are nothing uncommon and robots roam as plentiful as humans, all connected through their ”ghosts” to the electronic datastreams of the net. Major Motoko Kusanagi and the Public Security Section 9 find themselves in a constant battle with the newly created wave of technological terrorists and cyber-hackers.

Tonight’s Episode: “Super Spartan ii + Junk Jungle i“

Kusanagi and her team expect to be dissolved after their stunt with the Minister. However, Aramaki arrives and reveals he maneuvered events so that the team will fall under his sole control and will only answer directly to the PM. Several months later, the team is tasked with spying on a former officer from the Gavel Republic, Colonel Malles, in hopes of finding a lead on a mysterious hacker nicknamed the “Puppet Master”. Aramaki meets with the Foreign Minister, who warns that the diplomatic situation between Japan and the Gavel Republic is delicate.

Julius explains that Roy consumed Reid, but the latter was too strong and took control of the Sin Archbishop’s body; thus, he can now leave his exam. Reid then overpowers Subaru and the others before Satella appears and destroys the tower, culminating in Reid killing Subaru.
