Before the end of August I have a new question that needs asking (not to diminish – do you know where your Patlabor is?). As you know at the JAFWA AGM, it was moved that JAFWA fund the KickStarter campaign to bring about more Tenchi anime. This is being done, but there is also the opportunity for us individual members to hop on JAFWA’s KickStarter pledge and order bonus items. I, myself, am looking at getting my own copy of the BluRay, both sticker sheets, and I am currently undecided if I should get any of the patches. You too dear members can order your own bonus items, but this offer is only open until August 29^th, which is the latest we have to officially inform President Drew (who is handling the KickStarter order) and arrange to pay for the bonus items by then. So technically my new question is – Are you ready to order?

This week’s JAFWA program is still in transition to its September form. We farewell another two regular series, in this case “Witch Hat Atelier” (though a sequel has been announced) and “Champignon no Majo” comes to their conclusion. The two new regular series that started last week continue, though for scheduling issues you will be required to watch two standard-length episodes of “Sentenced to be a Hero” this week. And earlier this month we had to put “Re: Zero” on hiatus because they hadn’t yet screened part B of Season 4 in Japan yet. You may be pleased to know that this is no longer the case and we have more “Re: Zero” this week.

Will you be surprised that we also have a preview episode this week? Another re-incarnated into an isekai storyline, where our unpopular protagonist can game the system based on his Earth-life knowledge. You can almost tell it is a new isekai story because the title is so long, all the short-named isekai stories were all used long ago.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future” final cour

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all. This will involve creating a space program to go to the Moon.

This Evening’s Episode: “Giant Step“

The de-petrified astronauts begin to assemble their moonship in orbit. An electrical malfunction damages the LCD, making connection to the service module difficult. Senku discovers a hair caught in the circuit board that was petrified during the launch, causing a short-circuit. Without a replacement board, they cannot steer the ship. But then the lunar module begins steering itself towards them, for what mysterious reason? Will our protagonists be able to take that one Giant Step?

Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen Dai-San-Bu Ryoushu no Youjo) season 4

The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again. Now she has become Rosemyne, the adopted daughter of a Duke.

This evening’s Episode: “First Material Gathering“

The Harvest Festival is coming up and Rosemyne prepares to gather materials for her jureve (a type of magic potion used to heal nobles from a near-death state) for the first time. Will she live up to her responsibilities And fix her mistake?

Witch Hat Atelier (Tongari Boushi no Atorie)

In a world where only witches can cast magic, they must avoid being seen by ordinary people while casting. While Coco does her chores, she daydreams of becoming a witch. When a young witch named Qifrey visits her village, Coco uncovers the “absolute secret,” becomes Qifrey’s apprentice, and begins her studies. This is the story of children who encounter despair, yet reach out toward hope.

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Shadow of Romonon” and “Forbidden Magic” finale

Qifrey tells of the cave being a remnant of Romonon, a cavern city clad in magical gold that collapsed due to internal greed and arrogance. He silently hopes that magic can be used for good again. Back in the cave, Agott, Richeh, and Euini escort the myrphons through the path. Alaira reinforces the test’s benefit to solve a situation in different ways. She tries to ask Richeh about Qifrey until they are ambushed by the cloaked Brimmed Cap. Alaira warns the apprentices to not be led astray and sends out her pointed cap before being transported elsewhere. Qifrey, Coco, and Tetia realise the test is in peril but they are suddenly attacked by the cave ruins and fall down an abyss, during which Qifrey is incapacitated. Agott also deduces that the Brimmed Caps are targeting Coco, so she tries to goad the cloaked Brimmed Cap on abandoning their search. However, they capture and mock Agott and prepare to brand her with forbidden magic to draw out Coco. Is all lost?

preview item – The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System (Tsuihou sareta Tensei Juukishi wa Game Chishiki de Musou suru)

Elymas Edvan is a fifteen-year-old born into a prestigious family, one that is renowned for producing Master Swordsmen. During the Ritual of Divine Blessing, which determines an individual’s class, Elymas manifests the Heavy Knight class, one widely regarded as defective and belonging to cowards. As a result, he is stripped of his status as heir to the Edvan household and cast into exile. Elymas realizes that the world he inhabits is identical to a game he played in a previous life. In this game, the Heavy Knight is actually the strongest class when used correctly.

Tonight’s Episode: “I’m Elymas the Heavy Knight“

As heir to the Edvaughn family, Elymas undergoes the Ritual of Divine Blessing to determine his warrior class. During the ritual, Elymas recalls a previous life in which the world he currently inhabits is actually the game Magic World, which he played obsessively. The ritual concludes and he is thrilled to be granted his favourite class, Heavy Knight, with which he has had much success. Unfortunately, in this world Heavy Knight is considered a defective defensive class that deals very little damage and is deemed worthless.

Champignon Witch (Champignon no Majo)

Luna is a young witch who lives alone in a forest known for its poisonous mushrooms. Feared and shunned by nearby villagers for being a black witch in a kingdom ruled by white witches, Luna is believed to bring illness and death because of the poisonous mushrooms that she leaves everywhere she touches.

Tonight’s Episode: “Lize, the Black Witch’s Apprentice” finale

The Wind Mage asks Luna to remove the poison from him, which he has accumulated over time from his duties. He then takes Lize to test him, getting Lize to confess his feelings for Luna, but says he needs to let go of these feelings. Lize protests, and says a Black Witch would never understand how painful it is to be in love.

Nier: Automata Ver1.1a

In the year 11945 on a post-apocalyptic Earth abandoned by humanity. Earth has been occupied by aliens, who fight using an army of Machine Lifeforms. Androids, created by humans, fight against the Machine Lifeforms, with the conflict turning into a prolonged proxy war. The latest addition to the android forces is YoRHa, an elite android fighting force based in the orbital Bunker and communicating directly with the Council of Humanity on the Moon.

Tonight’s Episode: “city e[S]cape“

The Council of Humanity addresses YoRHa with a speech explaining that Aliens invaded Earth with an army of Machine Lifeforms in the year 5012, forcing what remains of Humanity to retreat to the Moon and build an army of androids in the form of the Resistance on Earth and YoRHa in space with the intention of retaking the planet. Meanwhile on Earth, a Machine designated PLAO8 begins to develop intelligence and instead of attacking the Resistance, decides to learn to grow flowers.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (“Re: Life in a Different World from Zero”) season 4b

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favour, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

Tonight’s Episode: “From Now On“

Starting his new loop, Subaru immediately reveals his amnesia to the others. While Ram initially does not believe him, Subaru realizes she is just distraught that everyone has now forgotten Rem and promises to wake her, earning her trust. Subaru then heads to the staircase and catches his attacker—Meili—when she tries to push him off, but he dodges. How will Subaru re-acquire his memories?

Xylo asks Teoritta to end their pact, but she refuses. Returning to duty, Xylo, Teoritta, Venetim, Norgalle Senridge, a hero who deludes himself that he is royalty, and Tatsuya, a hero despondent from over-resurrection, are tasked with defeating faeries that have infested a mine near the town of Zewan Gan. Suspiciously, upon arriving, they find that the inhabitants have not evacuated, and the faeries are confined inside the mine. Though Xylo is skeptical of the situation, especially after encountering Knight Commander Kivia. There are many trapped miners to rescue, with the Demon Lord Lotus being rather cunning.
