No Screening this Saturday, 4th July 2026

No JAFWA screening until Saturday 11^th July 2026!

Not that we consider it a holiday or anything (though it was my late Grandmother’s birthday), but on Saturday July 4^th we are taking our once-a-month weekend off to refresh and fortify ourselves.
Though we are also preparing for the JAFWA Annual General Meeting to be held before the screening of Saturday July 18^th. Come along to learn how your beloved JAFWA committee is performing in your name, vote on contentious issues such as keeping Winter Hours all year long, or even raise your own wise motion for the JAFWA membership to vote on (eg remove a program item, ensure another item gets added, demand a sushi delivery service, call for world domination, enforce a dress code, etc). You could even nominate yourself for the JAFWA committee election.

Though the weather dares to be inclement, we are left thankful that we are in the Collins St Community Hall protected us from said inclement weather, and we were warmed by our love of anime.
And to help warm your souls the preview item will be something from the new cour of anime in the process of being released in the Japanese Summer. We have our eyes on two titles that sound well exciting, of which at least one of them should be available by next screening.

If you strongly feel that JAFWA is neglecting certain well-deserving anime, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Barring a resurgence of COVID-19 pestilence, these fannish events of interest are scheduled to happen:

• Monday July 27^th 2026 ~6:30PM — Luna Double Feature at Luna Cinemas Leederville – “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle” $17.
