Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening
JAFWA has the hall from about 12:30PM to about 3:45PM, where it is make our own amusement time.
Does anyone want hall space for nerf gun battles? Bring your own ping-pong? Table top games? Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Until September JAFWA will be operating on Winter Hours – ie screening starts at ~4:15PM.
Though Winter does attempt to oppress us, we here at JAFWA fight back with anime to warm the soul after an afternoon of frolicking.
We are officially open to nominations to get yourself onto the committee elections. The election shall take place on July 18th, during the Dinner Break of the screening session after the AGM.
In this week’s JAFWA program we have out regular regular program now locked in, and it shall continue till at least August.
Unless a motion is made and voted for at the AGM (this is a plug to engage with the AGM).
This week we shall preview a remake of a beloved anime from the 80’s, to get a whole new generation invested in the post-apocalyptic liberation
As a Public Service Announcement from JAFWA we regretfully inform people with the news that the long-time fixture of Perth fandom – Tokyo Underground is being forced to close for the final time. Though Bronwyn has taken her store through many misfortunes and relocations, she has indicated that she will not be maintaining her stall at the Wanneroo Weekend Markets much longer due to health reasons. Before it is too late visit Tokyo Underground one last time, and help her empty the shop.
Anime is definitely going mainstream. Last year at the cinemas has been the “Demon Slayer” movie, followed by the “Chainsaw Man” movie, and then the “Jujitsu Kaisen” movie. This year there has been the “Zombieland Saga” movie, and a “Gundam” movie, and an unbelievably good “Scarlet”. Life is wonderful for anime fans.
What else will be showing up in cinemas? It sometimes seems that all the popular Japanese anime movies are coming.
Not to mention that Luna Leederville is putting anime films in their Monday Double Feature program and Thursday Tokyo Nights.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like Lindsay, Elliot and Dale did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally have done, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Who Made me a Princess? (In Japanese: Aru Hi, Ohime-sama ni Natteshimatta Ken ni Tsuite, in Korean: Eoneu Nal Gongjuga Doeeobeolyeossda, in Chinese: Mófaa Goungzhuu de Xiao Fánnao)
The story follows Athanasia de Alger Obelia, a young princess executed by her father, Claude de Alger Obelia, the cold-blooded emperor of the Obelian Empire. However, Athanasia is reincarnated as her baby-self and given a second chance at the same life. Athanasia must use all of her wit and cunning to survive in the palace and to prevent her own death.
This evening’s Episode: “The Genius Boy Wizard“
Emperor Claude feels the pain in his chest again. He summons his healing wizards but they all agree Athanasia’s illness has no source. Lucas arrives transformed into a young boy, explaining Athanasia has awoken magic of incredibly high purity. He removes the excess, making her well again, but reveals she has the potential to surpass Claude.
Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future” final cour
Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all. This will involve creating a space program to go to the Moon.
This Evening’s Episode: “Dawn of the Computer”
Taiju and his team arrive in Corn City and revive everyone, reuniting with Yuzuriha. Xeno’s subordinates agree to help reach the moon. Senku explains that instead of semiconductors, they will be using parametrons, small rings of copper and zinc wrapped with wire that oscillate between electronic frequencies. But a computer needs so many they must send complicated circuit diagrams to each other, Xeno suggests fax machines across the Stone World.
Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke (Honzuki no Gekokuj?: Shisho ni Naru Tame niwa Shudan o Erandeiramasen Dai-San-Bu Ry?shu no Y?jo) season 4
The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again. Now she has become Rosemyne, the adopted daughter of a Duke.
This evening’s Episode: “How to Collect Donations”
To fund her projects, Rosemyne tries to collect donations from the nobility, staring with a Tea Prty. But it proves harder than she thought. How serious does she have to get?
Witch Hat Atelier (Tongari Boushi no Atorie)
In a world where only witches can cast magic, they must avoid being seen by ordinary people while casting. While Coco does her chores, she daydreams of becoming a witch. When a young witch named Qifrey visits her village, Coco uncovers the “absolute secret,” becomes Qifrey’s apprentice, and begins her studies. This is the story of children who encounter despair, yet reach out toward hope.
Tonight’s Episode: “The Dragon’s Labyrinth“
As the apprentices rest, Tetia apologizes to Coco for unfairly blaming her. Tetia also shows off her cloud spell, which she aims to share to others. Coco directs the girls to the rune being guarded by the dragon, and proposes an audacious plan to use Tetia’s spell as a bed to not hurt the dragon. But what is the objective of the masked Brimmed Cap?
Kusunoki’s Garden of Gods (Kami no Niwatsuki Kusunoki-tei)
Minato Kusunoki ends up becoming the caretaker of a newly constructed house deep in the countryside. A procession of unique and peculiar gods is drawn to the comfort of the purified Kusunoki residence, and Minato spends his days relaxing in the company of his spiritual neighbors. What else lies in store for Minato as he lives peacefully surrounded by gods.
Tonight’s Episode: “The Key to Unlocking the Power is in the Memories“
Minato further recalls becoming friends with Warashi. When one yokai, Hihi, began picking on him his grandfather told him to find a way to get along, so Minato began using sweets as offerings. After his grandfather died Minato was attacked by an unfriendly yokai, but it was banished by a travelling exorcist. Elsewhere, Harima keeps Minato’s identity secret from his five exorcist sisters.
Champignon Witch (Champignon no Majo)
Luna is a young witch who lives alone in a forest known for its poisonous mushrooms. Feared and shunned by nearby villagers for being a black witch in a kingdom ruled by white witches, Luna is believed to bring illness and death because of the poisonous mushrooms that she leaves everywhere she touches.
Tonight’s Episode: “I Cannot Return to the Cat Forest“
In a flashback to when she first became a black witch, she recalls her first time meeting the cat witch. Originally jealous of how quickly she became a black witch, the cat witch was mean to Luna in hopes of scaring her off, but Luna was do lonely and used to being treated badly that she didn’t notice her malintent. What is the cursed youngling’s name?

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (“Re: Life in a Different World from Zero”) season 4
Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favour, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.
Tonight’s Episode: “Julius Juukulius“
Julius accepts the Stick Swinger’s challenge but gets utterly defeated despite Foxidna attempting to support him with magic. Emilia then takes the exam and successfully lands a hit on the Stick Swinger when he lets his guard down, after which he announces that she passed and grants her access to the top floor. Afterward, with the others denied access until they pass as well, the group moves to another floor to discuss strategy.
Roll Over and Die: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword! (Omae Gotoki ga Maou ni Kateru to Omou na to Yuusha Paati o Tsuihou Sareta no de, Outo de Kimama ni Kurashitai which literally translates as ‘Banished from the Hero’s Party Because They Said ‘Don’t Think Somebody Like You Can Defeat the Demon Lord’, I Want to Live Freely in the Capital‘)
Flum Apricot is born with a unique Affinity known as “Reversal” that leaves her with zero stats across the board. However, after being prophesied by the God Origin to join the Hero’s party and defeat the Demon Lord, Flum finds herself with what seems like an impossible task. Things only get harder when the party’s renowned sage, Jean Inteige, decides to sell her into slavery instead. Flum finally learns the true meaning of her unique “Reversal” Affinity.
Tonight’s Episode: “An Ordinary Life“
As Milkit prepares breakfast, Flum expresses her feelings for her. They and Eterna go shopping and reunite with Sara, who is accompanied by two knights, Ed and Jonny. They are grateful for Flum for catching Dein’s men from earlier. Flum heads to the guild, but the receptionist warns her against taking anymore jobs as she will become a target if she does them. Eterna has a conversations with Milkit.
Clevatess (Clevatess -Majuu no Ou to Akago to Shikabane no Yuusha-)
After killing a group of heroes and destroying an entire kingdom as revenge for attacking his lands, one of the Four Beast Kings, Clevatess, takes in a baby belonging to the kingdom’s royal family. He then resurrects one of the heroes, Alicia Glenfall, whom he enslaves so she can help him take care of the baby while hoping to examine humanity more closely.
Tonight’s Episode: “Secrets of Magic“
As Klen continues his journey, Naie attempts to examine Luna’s skills using a magical candy while Maynard attempts to stop Alicia from interfering. Nelluru saves Luna using her strength while Alicia overcomes Maynard’s giant bugs. Maynard recognizes Alicia, having known of her father’s death. He and Naie gather all the townsfolks in the center of the town square and manipulate them into helping them hunt down Alicia’s group.
