Screening of Saturday 28th February 2026

The month of February has raced past us – obviously JAFWA is showing too much good anime. But I am in favour of the good anime continuing to be screened.

Being the end of the month, there are two traditional events happening at the JAFWA screening:

• During the Dinner Break we will attempt to gauge the audience appreciation of both the regular program and the recent preview items we have chosen to show. When filling in the monthly survey rate the anime you love in an honest and scalar fashion!
• We have the Monthly Member’s Prize Draw for signed up members who have attended this month of February. Every week of attendance this month gets you another entry in the draw.

This week we have our regular JAFWA program, with a preview episode before the Dinner Break so that it can be included in the Monthly Survey. This preview episode is set in strange world where an invisible detective appreciates being seen by his blind receptionist.

Anime is going mainstream. Last year at the cinemas has been the “Demon Slayer” movie, followed by the “Chainsaw Man” movie, and then the “Jujitsu Kaisen” movie. More recently the “Zombieland Saga” movie is appearing in cinemas, and a “Gundam” movie. Life is wonderful for anime fans.
Now in February is the long awaited Scarlet, with more to come.
Not to mention that Luna Leederville is putting anime films in their Monday Double Feature program.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Alma-chan Wants to Have a Family (Alma-chan wa Kazoku ni Naritai)

Alma is a super high-performance girl-type robot weapon created by two genius scientists, Enji Kamisato and Suzume Yobane. However, because the pair created her, Alma thinks that the two are actually her parents, and uses all in her considerable power to make them the perfect family.

This evening’s Episode: “Friends“

Suzume does maintenance on Alma’s body, so Alma uses her toddler sized spare body. Alma and Machina have fun swapping heads with one of Alma’s more buxom prototype bodies. A girl named Neon Wozniak introduces herself to Alma as heir of a military technology corporation, explaining she wishes to help Alma reach her full potential as a war machine. But as powerful as Alma is, can she protect her family from the onslaught of the Common Cold?

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Furiiren) season 2

For ten years, elf mage Frieren traveled with Himmel the hero, Heiter the priest, and Eisen the dwarf warrior as they quested to destroy the demon king. At the end of their journey, Frieren set out on her own, not quite understanding how differently time flows for her versus her human companions. Reunited after fifty years only to see them wither and die, Frieren begins to ponder the nature of connections at a time when it’s already too late to say goodbye. On the road to Ende, Frieren confronts past bonds and rising threats with her newfound party.

This Evening’s Episode: “The Hero of the South“

The party arrives in the town of Fabel and takes on a job cleaning a bronze statue of a hero. Stark is surprised to learn the statue is not of Himmel, but of another figure titled the Hero of the South. After the party finishes their job and head towards a larger city run by Graf Dach. Frieren tries to shop and leave the city quickly, but is roped into a celebratory feast alongside her companions by the Graf. Dach pushes the party into accepting a request to retrieve a stolen sword, his family heirloom.

The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife (Toumei Otoko to Ningen Onna: Sonouchi Fuufu ni Naru Futari‘)

In a world where humans, demi-humans and monsters co-exist, Shizuka Yakou is a quiet and bashful woman who works at a small detective agency. Her employer, Tounome, is the refined and courteous owner of the agency, who possesses the unusual ability to turn invisible. While his power is invaluable for investigative work, it proves ineffective on Yakou, who is blind, yet can always sense Tounome’s presence.

Spy x Family season 3

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Mommy-Friends Scheme“

When Yor heads to a high-class department store to buy snacks for Anya, she saves a rich woman named Melinda from falling down the stairs. Impressed with her agility, Melinda invites Yor to join her friends in the Lady Patriots Society in a game of volleyball. While having lunch, Melinda learns that Yor is Anya’s stepmother and introduces herself as Melinda Desmond, the mother of Damian, and the wife of Donovan. Learning that Yor is now friends with Melinda, Loid hopes to use their relationship to get close to Donovan as a backup plan in case Anya fails to become an Imperial Scholar or befriend Damian.

May I Ask for One Final Thing? (Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai Shitemo Yoroshii Deshou ka)

In the middle of a ball, Scarlet’s fiancé, Prince Kyle, suddenly calls off their engagement. She’s falsely accused of being a bully, and people unfairly call her a “Villainess.” At her wit’s end, she asks for one last favor: to give him a good fist in the face. So begins Scarlet’s story of revenge against Kyle and his corrupt cronies.

Tonight’s Episode: “May I Send This Pig Flying Into the Sky?“

After pondering over Terenezza’s motives, Scarlet decides to meet Diana during her upcoming Holy Land Pilgrimage. Though wary, Leonardo allows her to go. Julius joins Scarlet for a secret mission. The two main churches of Palmianism and Dianism are within the Religious Quarter of the city, which was recently sealed off from the outside by the Wall of Impurity, built by the Palmian Pope Sargon to protect the churches.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (“Masshuru”) season 2

This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. His muscular body will have to protect him from the magic users who are out to get him, now that his magic-lack is revealed.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mash Burnedead and the Magical Maestro“

A dark mage approaches the academy with dragons, seeking Mash. During their clash Margarette sends a sound wave Mash cannot punch away, bursting his ear drums. As the contest tide changes Margarette summons their Funeral Bell, which will kill the whole audience in one minute unless Mash surpasses their speed and steals their wand.

Oshi no Ko (“My Favorite Idol” or “Their Idol’s Children”) season 3

Goro Amemiya works as an OB-GYN in a small rural town and is a huge fan of upcoming idol Ai Hoshino. After an unexpected meeting, Goro ends up dying suddenly only to be reborn as one of Ai’s children; a boy named Aquamarine Hoshino (or Aqua for short). He and his twin sister Ruby then grows up as one of show-biz’s biggest secrets.
As Aqua continues his quest to find his father—the puppet master behind his mother’s murder—within the Japanese entertainment industry. But to also track down the truth behind Ai and Goro’s deaths, Ruby keeps rising in the entertainment world.

Tonight’s Episode: “Blind“

Ruby reveals she had a hand in manufacturing the Dig Deep! controversy to further her growth, adding she was inspired by Aqua’s handling of the Love Now debacle. Aqua is disturbed by Ruby gravitating towards lies and manipulation, as Ruby points out that Ai also lied about her and Aqua’s existence to remain an idol.

Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game (Jujutsu Kaisen Shimetsu Kaiyuu Zenpen)

Negative human emotions – regret, bitterness, shame – are the source of all curses that infest the world and hide in everyday life, leading to death in the worst cases. Yuji Itadori, a particularly strong young man, attempts to save a friend from a curse, only to wind up consuming the special grade curse of Ryoumen Sukuna’s finger. Only a curse can eliminate another curse, and Yuji’s career as a cursed person who must exorcise curses has now begin. Now that curses are mainstream, the Culling Game begins, pushing Yuji and his allies to their limits.

Tonight’s Episode: “Cog“

Megumi and Panda infiltrate the compound, when they are spotted by Kirara, who warns Hakari. Megumi attempts to convince Kirara to help them, but they refuse on account of Jujutsu High’s conservative board and don’t believe that Gojo has been sealed. Kirara uses their Cursed Technique, which appropriates the Southern Cross, allowing them to repel Megumi and Panda away from themselves and Hakari’s door.

The Beginning After The End (Saikyou no Ousama, Futatabime no Jinsei wa Nani o Suru? lit. ‘What Will the Mighty King Do in His Second Life?’)

King Grey is a once-powerful ruler reborn as Arthur Leywin, a boy with untapped potential. He discovers that his new life is filled with danger and adventure at every turn. From mastering powerful spells to facing fierce enemies, Arthur must use his skills and wits to protect those he cares about and uncover the secrets of his mysterious reincarnation.

Tonight’s Episode: “The King’s Says Goodbye“

Virion reveals Arthur cannot use sorcery as the Beast Will disrupts the balance between his body and his core. After three years of training, Virion decides it is time to awaken the Beast Will, allowing Arthur to tame animals. However, awakening Beast Will causes an explosion of magic and Arthur is forced to admit his Beast Will came from a dragon.

Golden Kamuy final season(Goruden Kamui)

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Cause of Everything“

Tsurumi reveals everything that happened between him, Wilk, and the seven Ainu, and his true ambitions finally come to light. But how will Asirpa handle the truth?
