Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

We hope to invite Special Guests the Perth Linux Users Group to show us how to liberate ourselves from the shackles of Microsoft Windows and embrace the elegance of Linux on our personal computers. So if you have an old laptop or PC that you wish to revive the O/S, bring it along on the afternoon of Saturday 22^nd.

Other than PLUG, does anyone want hall space for nerf gun battles? Bring your own ping-pong? Table top games? Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the streets.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it is fun, sufficiently legal, not too immoral, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

After the Event Afternoon Screening on the evening of Saturday, November 22^nd 2025

How fast the year is passing! It tends to do that while you are having a good time at JAFWA. Also, the Perth edition of the annual Japan Film Festival is under way.
Our winners for the double passes to the Mamoru Hosoda Retrospective at Luna Leederville, have been selected. Allow us to congratulate Harper, Andrew, Michael and Glenn. May they enjoy the movie of their choice.
Believe it or not, the “Chainsaw Man” movie is still at the cinemas, with what seems to be a longer time at the cinemas than the “Demon Slayer” movie. What will happen when the “Jujitsu Kaisen” movies comes out?

This week at JAFWA we are nearing the end of most of our current regular program, ready for a fresh start in 2026. After tonight we will have to pause “Dr Stone”. because the final cour of the final season won’t screen until some time later in 2026. Can you wait that long?
We will have a preview preview episode this week to embrace the spirit of the coming festive season, where making a wish to Santa first requires violently hunting him down from where he is hiding.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all. This will involve creating a space program to go to the Moon. The battle between scientists is about to start.

This Evening’s Episode: “Whole New World” ~halt~

More than seven years after the second global petrification, Senku revives and is accompanied by a now-teenage Suika. Together they produce enough revival fluid to restore the rest of their allies. Emotional reunions follow: Suika embraces Kohaku who marvels at her growth while the group is relieved when Hyoga, who was killed during the American assault, returns to life. Senku revives Xeno, equipping him with the earpiece first created on Treasure Island. He explains that Why-man has gone silent since the second global petrification. Recognizing that his dream of ruling humanity is now impossible, Xeno agrees to ally with Senku in building a spaceship bound for the moon.

Secrets of the Silent Witch (Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto)

Monica Everett, the Silent Witch, is the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, a veritable heroine who single-handedly fended off the Black Dragon of legend. However, the young prodigy is actually…super-duper shy. and she only learned Voiceless Magic to avoid speaking in public. Ignorant of this, the Seven Sages have placed her on a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.

This Evening’s Episode: “My Friend“

Monica defeats Robert Winkel, University’s best chess player, and afterwards Robert asks her to marry him, causing her to run away. Bernie approaches Monica after secretly attacking her to confirm that she is the Silent Witch. Bernie calls Monica out for being selfish, causing her to break down before Lana comes in to stand up for her. Monica is ready to snap. Trying to re-arrange the matches, Bernie discovers that one of the officials is an imposter.

Zatsu Tabi (That’s Journey)

Chika Suzugamori is a college student who has been shopping some manga pitches around to publishers ever since she won a rookie manga award, but keeps getting rejected. Just as she was about to lose hope in ever breaking into the manga industry, she decides on a whim to go traveling without any particular goal. During her journey, Chika meets different people, experiences local cultures, and finds new inspiration for her manga.

This Evening’s Episode: “Three Girls, Cozy and Full of Laughs“

The journey upon “Dream Sleeper” bus continues on towards Osaka, with Chika, Fuyune-sensei and Yui-chan. But the final destination will be Hiroshima and the conquest of the last of Japan’s three great views. But does Chika have any ideas for a new manga? Interruptions abound but sites and sights also abound if you step lively Chika.

365 Days to the Wedding (“Kekko surutte, Hontou desuka” literally “Are You Really Getting Married?”)

The J.T.C. travel agency is looking for someone to manage its brand-new branch in Irkutsk. But for employees Takuya Oohara and Rika Honjouji, they’d rather just stay home in Tokyo. Thankfully, they’ve discovered a way out—their manager has narrowed down the recruits to bachelors, so they decide to get married. The problem is they barely know each other at all.

Tonight’s Episode: “Are You Serious About Living Under the Same Roof?“

Kurokawa asks them to create an online blog about their careers and home life, designed to show potential recruits that JTC supports family values. They have no idea what to do since they do not have a home life, but refusing might draw attention from the anonymous phone caller. Honjoji decides they should do the blog, meaning she has to move into Ohara’s apartment. Rules will be needed.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles (“Masshuru”)

This is a world of magic where magic is used for everything. But deep in the forest exists a young man who spends his time training and bulking up. He can’t use magic, but he enjoys a peaceful life with his father. His muscular body will have to protect him from the magic users who are out to get him.

Tonight’s Episode: “Mash Burnedead and the Survival of the Fittest“

Abel takes control of Mash to make him kill himself, but he just snaps the magic strings. Abel instead summons doll-Finn, reasoning Mash will not hurt a friend, but Mash snaps his strings by throwing his gold coin at them using his curveball technique. Mash succeeds in kicking Abel in the face, but Abel manages to fully turn Mash into a doll.

SAO alternate: Gun Gale Online season 2

This is a side story from the Sword Art Online universe, this is all new characters – no Kirito or Asuna. We follow the story of Karen Kohiruimaki, a university student with a complex about her abnormal height. She begins playing a VR game called Gun Gale Online after it gives her the cute, petit avatar that she has always wanted.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Devil’s Castle“

LPFM head to engage SHINC, but are interrupted when ZEMAL ambushes them. LPFM and SHINC decide to temporarily team up to eliminate ZEMAL so they can continue their face off. LPFM and SHINC decide to continue their truce so they can each have a chance to face off against the AI NPC team. Time for drone scouting.

In a middle school on December 25, 2080, Shiori Fuyumura attempts to murder her classmate Kazushige Sanda, believing he is connected to Santa Claus and hoping he can locate her missing friend Ichie Ono, who still believes in Christmas.

Solo Leveling 2 – Arise from the Shadows

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episode: “Are You the King of Humans?“

Jin-woo uses his potions to heal the Korean hunters, though Hae-in is too gravely injured to be healed. Jin-woo’s army holds off the ants while Jin-woo faces off against the Ant King.

Akiba Maid War (Akiba Maid Sensou)

In Akihabara in 1999, a 17-year-old girl named Nagomi Wahira begins her new job working at a pig-themed maid cafe, trying to follow her dream of being a cheerful and hardworking maid. However, Nagomi soon finds the world of maid cafes in Akihabara is a lot more cutthroat than she anticipated at first.

Tonight’s Episode: “Battles Without Moe“

Creatureland sends a message to the Oinky Doink Cafe that they have officially been disowned from the group. Despite the fame from winning the Lady Omoe Festival, other Creatureland maids start harassing the cafe and even murder one of Nagomi’s biggest regulars to drive business away. Ranko decides to tell the other staff about her past with Nagi and Michiyo, and resolves to face Nagi by herself.

DanDaDan part 2

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “Hey, It’s a Kaiju“

Momo, Okarun, and Kinta run in terror from the kaiju, as Aira and Jiji also become caught in the carnage. The group fights back the kaiju while Momo orders Jiji to escort Kinta to safety. Kinta’s sweat summons Evil-Eye. Yet Kinta can imagine the giant mecha needed to defeat the Kaiju.
