JAFWA continues in May

We have passed the midpoint in May and people are enjoying the revamped JAFWA program. Even our attendees who didn’t stay around for the final timeslot – “Eminence in Shadow” which is where the vampires where.

This week the JAFWA program will fii in a preview item, along with the usual regular items. Assemble a team of dastardly criminals to save the world.

Remember that in July we will be having our AGM and committee elections. What item do you want raised at the AGM, and who of our signed up members wish to run/rule JAFWA?

If you strongly feel that JAFWA is neglecting certain well-deserving anime, please offer to sponsor a night of JAFWA and screen your favourites. If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did previously, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

Apocalypse Hotel

There is a solitary hotel in Tokyo’s Ginza district. After society has collapsed, humanity has disappeared, and nature has begun to reclaim most of the land. Despite the lack of guests, Yachiyo is a hotel management robot who continues to manage the Ginzarou hotel alongside other robots.

This Evening’s Episode: “Food and Etiquette are Mainstays of Culture“

The Prociones soon begin to grow tired of the hotel menu, which has remained static due to the limited availability of ingredients. Determined to keep her guests happy, Yachiyo decides to procure new ingredients from outside the hotel so that they can create new recipes. She takes Ponko with her out into the wilderness to fish, but they are attacked by a giant alien worm.

Mob Psycho 100 III

Shigeo Kageyama’s nickname is “Mob”. A slang term for a background character, someone who doesn’t stand out. In truth he is an incredibly powerful psychic who has suppressed his emotions in order to avoid causing a catastrophe. Mob would like nothing better than to live a normal life and have feelings just like anyone else, but with his incredible psychic powers there’s no telling what might happen if he did.

This Evening’s Episode: “Getting Carried Away ~100%~“

After saving Tsubomi from an embarrassing situation, being invited by Mezato to a Psycho Helmet Cult meeting, and having made plans with Tome, he is teased by Emi on how “popular” he is lately. After walking home with Ritsu, he begins to sense more girls looking at him affectionately, causing him to get high on his own popularity.

Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective (“Ameko Takao no Suiri Karte” literally “Ameku Takao’s Mystery Medical Record”)

Dr. Takao Ameku is the brilliant yet eccentric director of investigative pathology at Tenikai General Hospital, in charge of diagnosing patients the other hospital departments cannot. However, due to her love of solving mysteries, Takao also gets involved with mysterious deaths and murders, all while dragging along her assistant Yu Takanashi in her various adventures.

This evening’s Episode: “Into the Spell of Shimmering Light“

After watching a video that supposedly kills people, a teenager named Mafuyu throws herself in front of a train but survives. Her twin sister Manatsu informs psychiatrist Dr. Sumida about the video but Sumida does not believe her, instead believing Mafuyu attempted suicide. Takao secretly interviews Mafuyu but Dr Sumida forces Takao to leave, having previously banned Takao from the psychiatric ward.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “Ice“

While admiring a hairpin a concubine gave her, Xiaolan accidentally bumps into an eunuch, causing him to drop and break a block of ice meant for a high-ranking concubine, Loulan. Ice being rare, the situation is serious. Maomao intervenes, promising to repurpose the ice. Jinshi uses this to his advantage. Later consort Gyokuyou looks like she needs treatment that only MaoMao’s exiled, “criminal” adopted father cab provide.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Die Neue These Kaikou) season 3

In humanity’s distant future, two interstellar states – the monarchic Galactic Empire and the democratic Free Planets Alliance – are embroiled in a never-ending war. The story focuses on the exploits of rivals Reinhard von Lohengramm and Yang Wen-li as they rise to power and fame in the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance respectively.

Despite having incredible fighting skills and the strength to wield the enormous sword Runding, Belle Lablac has grown up as an outcast due to being the only human in a world of anthropomorphic animals. Desperate to find a place where she belongs, she goes on a quest to find others like her.

Tonight’s Episode: “Doubt: For Love of Reason“

Gaff is chosen as the new king, and he receives a message from the god telling him to find the Key of Journeys in the Black Hour and Black Direction and destroy it. Belle is imprisoned and mournfully holds on to Runding’s hilt. Bennett and Guinness were imprisoned too, then Guinness finds the old king has possessed him, making his eye and mouth appear on his palms and saying the old system must be destroyed.

In the utopian year 2049, the world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has discovered a miracle analgesic drug known as “Hapna” that completely relieves the user of any pain, shortly before disappearing off the face of the Earth. Three years later in 2052, Skinner resurfaces to the public in an online video to announce that the drug has a three-year half-life and soon everyone who took it will die. A task force of five agents, called “Lazarus”, is assembled to locate Skinner within 30 days before the first wave of Hapna users die and create a vaccine.

Axel Gilberto is visited in prison by a woman named Hersch, who fills him in on the current situation: the genius neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has resurfaced in an online video after 3 years to reveal that his miracle painkiller “Hapna” will kill everyone who has taken it three years after the first dose, with the first wave of victims set to come in approximately 30 days. owever, Axel is uninterested, instead using Hersch’s visit as an opportunity to escape prison. Welcome to “Lazarus”.

Solo Leveling

It’s been over a decade since the sudden appearance of the “gates”—the paths that connect our world with a different dimension. Since then, certain humans have awakened to supernatural powers. We call these individuals “hunters.” Hunters make their living by using their powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates. Notoriously weak hunter named Sung Jin-woo gets a unique opportunity to get stronger.

Tonight’s Episode: “A Pretty Good Deal“

Jin-woo joins C-rank Hunter Hwang Dongsuk and his five associates in a pick-up group to tackle a C-rank insect dungeon, with the contract stipulating that Jin-woo doesn’t have to fight but won’t get any battle drops. Jin-woo becomes suspicious of Dongsuk’s motives. Rounding out the eight-member requirement to enter the dungeon is first-timer D-rank Yoo Jin-ho, whose family wealth has equipped him with expensive and powerful gear.

Uzumaki (literally “spiral”)

Kirei lives in a town that lately has odd occurrences, and each one somehow is connected to a spiral. Soon the spiral occurrences spread to infect even the bodies of people, which suddenly turns the everyday events in her life into chaos and horror.

In the aftermath of the second typhoon, Kurouzu-cho is hit by four more typhoons. Chie Maruyama leads a news crew to investigate, but a whirlwind kills her crew. Kirie and Mitsuo spot her and explain that the slightest motion or sound now generates deadly whirlwinds. But moving slowly has also been causing people to morph into giant snails. All efforts to escape the town through the roads or by sea have failed. What to do?

The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) season 2

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one. And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest.

Even half asleep Elizabeth is formidable, the arrival of Yukime and Juggernaut not slowing her down. Elizabeth takes control of the demon blood dormant in all Shadow Garden. Claire She awakens in a dream world where Aurora the Calamity Witch explains that despite “Shadow” curing her demonic possession years ago the remaining demon blood continues to evolve into something yet unknown.
