JAFWA returns in March

With the beginning of March our Weather Bureau tells us that Autumn has begun. However, many countries, including Japan, don’t consider the season to have changed until the equinox has passed. So it is uncertain if we are still in Summer weather or not.
What is certain is that JAFWA is here to provide great anime this Saturday. Come and see!

This week, as well as our regular program, we include a preview item (based off of a video game) during the dark before the late break, a story set in a half-way house for the perhaps half-way dead.
Both Elliot and Greg have provided little 2 minute shows that you might be interested in.

If you don’t want to sponsor an entire night like both Lindsay and Elliot did last year, there is the other scheme for our signed up members. On the night nearest your birthday, as Greg and Sally did, you can nominate something to play during the Dinner Break (limited to 30 minutes max). You may have to help us source this material, so plan and inform us in advance please.

The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash (“Saijaku Teimaa wa Gomihiroi no Tabi o Hajimemashita”)

Young Ivy can’t catch a break. Though she has a few memories of her past life, she was reborn into an RPG-like world in the weakest class, and worse, as the weakest rank. As a no-star Tamer, even her parents want nothing to do with her, and she soon realizes she must survive on her own. She learns to live off the land and salvage what she can from other people’s leavings. But when Ivy manages to tame Sora, a lowly slime, everything changes for both of them. There’s something special about this frail little monster, and Ivy’s care will bring out the best in both of them.

This Evening’s Episode: “On the Path to Adventure“

Ivy and Sora set out for Otolwa and meet up with Ciel and camp out together. The next day, Ivy spots a mysterious figure that gives her chills before it quickly vanishes. After some misadventures, Ivy meets up with a party of adventurers called the Blazing Sword. The party members later talk about the rough shape Ivy is in seeing that she has been traveling alone and realizes that Ivy is trying to be as useful as she can.

Dr Stone season 4 “Science Future”

Modern society is lost when a mysterious light leaves everyone petrified in stone. Thousands of years in the future, super genius Senku awakens and begins restoring civilisation with his Kingdom of Science. After the battle on Treasure Island, Senku and the gang return to the Kingdom of Science. With their sights set on the Moon, they must first voyage to the Americas in hopes of beginning to harvest the required materials. Through teamwork and science, they continue the fight to save humanity once and for all.

This Evening’s Episode: “Science Is Elegant“

As part of Xeno’s plan to eliminate the Kingdom of Science’s leader, Stanley sends a young woman named Luna to infiltrate the science crew and find Taiju so that he can kill him once she lures him out in the open. Ryusui becomes suspicious of her, believing that she’s a spy. Senku on the other hand secretly plans to extract as much information from Luna as possible about Xeno and his crew, that way, he’ll transmit the encrypted message to Tsukasa’s special squad. Yet Senku begins to realise who Dr. Xeno truly is.

That Time I Was Re-incarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) season 2 part b

37-year-old Satoru Mikami died at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster. Now champion of monsters Rimuru Tempest ends the orc war and earns the esteemed title as Slime Chancellor. Now that the Jura Tempest Alliance is growing even further, they will now be meeting the animal kingdom of Eurazania, reuniting with King Gazel, rising tensions between monsters and humans, and Rimuru encountering the strongest enemy he’s ever faced.

This evening’s Episode: “On This Land Where It All Happened“

The main forces of Tempest attack Clayman’s army. While Beastketeer Suphia and Gabiru lead their comrades against the Dragon Faithful, Albis manages to defeat Yamza. When he tries to surrender to save his life, Clayman remotely forces him to swallow a piece of Charybdis and turn into a mindless, weaker version of the monster.

The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) season 2

Apothecary Maomao was just out collecting herbs when she was kidnapped by procurers for the Imperial harem, an easy way for unscrupulous people to get money by having “relatives” go work in the Rear Palace. Hiding her skills and knowledge, Maomao hopes to just glide by, earning as little as possible for her kidnappers during her term of service, but such is not to be: when royal infants begin dying, Maomao can’t resist letting people know the cause. This catches the eye of the far-too-handsome Jinshi, who elevates Maomao from laundry maid to poison taster to the Emperor’s favourite concubine. So much for flying under the radar…

Tonight’s Episode: “Moon Fairy“

Maomao visits the northern garden, where the madam at Rokushoukan once performed for the former envoy. There, she encounters Shisui, who is collecting caterpillars that metamorphose into moths. Inspired by this, Maomao devises a plan with Shishui and Xiaolan’s help.

Oshi no Ko (“My Favorite Idol” or “Their Idol’s Children”) season 2

Goro Amemiya works as an OB-GYN in a small rural town and is a huge fan of upcoming idol Ai Hoshino. After an unexpected meeting, Goro ends up dying suddenly only to be reborn as one of Ai’s children; a boy named Aquamarine Hoshino (or Aqua for short). He and his twin sister Ruby then grows up as one of show-biz’s biggest secrets.
As Aqua continues his quest to find his father—the puppet master behind his mother’s murder—within the Japanese entertainment industry, he finds himself acting in a stage play based on the wildly popular manga Tokyo Blade. Surrounded by competent professionals— including his friends Kana and Akane—it looks like this will be one of his easier jobs… If only things could be that easy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Growth“

Act 1 of the Tokyo Blade play goes without a hitch, depicting Taiki’s character, Blade, recruiting Kana and Melt’s characters Tsurugi and Kizami and forming the “Shinjuku Faction” against the “Shibuya Faction” led by Akane, Aqua, and Sakuya’s characters Princess Saya, Touki, and Monme. Act 2 then starts off of with Melt engaging in a sword battle with Sakuya. While observing the performance, Raida wonders why Kaburagi recommended Melt.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) season 3

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Girl and the Dragon“

Naofumi continues to care for the residents of Lurolona Village in preparation of the Phoenix’s rising in two months, with Ren now having joined, training with Eclair. They receive a package from Siltvelt which includes a dragon egg, and upon one of the demi-humans, Wyndia’s, insistence, Naofumi agrees to raise it. He’s forced to carry it around with him at all times in order to help with its growth.

preview – Tasokare Hotel

“TASOKARE HOTEL” is a hotel that is engulfed in twilight all day long, with no distinction between day and night. It exists as a place between life and death, where souls unable to decide whether to move on to the afterlife or return to the present world can rest their wings.

Tonight’s Episode: “Twilight Girl“

Neko Tsukahara wanders into “TASOKARE HOTEL” without remembering who she is or why she’s there. Guided by the hotel staff, she is led to her room. There should be items related to the customer’s memories in the room. These might serve as clues to help the customer regain their memories. She encounters a certain incident while searching for a way to return to the present world and remember who she is.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero) season 3

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favour, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

Tonight’s Episode: “Conditions of the Knight“

184 informs Emilia of the current state of the city, and that the Witch Cult will re-open the flood gates if she attempts to escape. Meanwhile, Subaru awakens having been saved from the flood by Priscilla and Liliana, and is shocked to discover his leg fully healed and with regenerative properties. When Subaru learns of the three new demands, he is enraged. They enter a refugee shelter, where the civilians are under the spell of Wrath’s Authority and on the verge of a riot, when Liliana sings to them, revealing she has the power to override the Authority.

Overlord season 4

With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination.

Tonight’s Episode: “In Pursuit of the Land of Dwarves“

Albedo suggests to Demiurge that Ainz is unhappy with his plans, and Ainz wants him and Albedo to arrange for the Empire to become a vassal state. Ainz hopes to make an alliance with the Dwarven Kingdom to gain access to their rune technology. He takes Aura, Shalltear and lizardman Zenberu who has experience with dwarves.

Takakura, an occult maniac who doesn’t believe in ghosts, and Ayase, a girl who doesn’t believe in aliens, try to overcome their differences when they encounter the paranormal.

Tonight’s Episode: “Like, Where Are Your Balls?!“

As Momo and Okarun begin to bond at school, a task strangely difficult, they get into a quarrel when Momo’s friends misinterpret them as a lovey-dovey couple. Okarun discovers he is still missing important items, and it turns out that Turbo Granny is still around. The chase is on, again.
