Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about ~1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Screening on the evening of Saturday, February 25^th 2023

JAFWA has come to the end of February. And you know what that means – Our monthly Member’s Prize Draw (Woo-Hoo!), along with our member survey to see what you like in the program, and what you don’t.
This particular survey will help JAFWA determine which new regular series will start in March.

This week we farewell a couple of series, “The Devil is a Part-Timer“, and “Ascendance of a Bookworm“. I suspect a few people are hoping that another season of these anime is produced.

The next fundraising for JAFWA at Cannington Bunnings sausage sizzle is scheduled for Saturday May 6^th, and we would like a volunteer or 3 to help out.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (Hataraku Maou-sama!) season 2

Having been thwarted in his attempts to conquer Ente Isla, the mighty demon lord Satan escapes through a portal with his general Alciel… And winds up in modern day Tokyo with very little magical power left. His resources for world domination now consist of a tiny rented apartment and a job at a fast food restaurant. To survive and find a way to return to Ente Isla, Satan adopts the name Sadao Maou and finds that the Hero Emilia is in similar circumstances.

This evening’s Episode: “The Devil and The Hero Focuses on Whats happening Right Now” (finale)

Deducing that Raguel is sending out the sonar pulses through one of the two TV towersthe group splits up with Emi checking out one while Maou and Alciel investigate the other. Gabriel explains to Emi that Emi being the child of an angel and human proves that angels are more human than not, which they believe will disrupt the natural order of Heaven. He also further reveals that her father, Nord Justina, is actually alive and on Earth.

Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou) season 3

The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again.

This evening’s Episode: “Blessing” (finale)

The battle concludes with Main learning the identity of Lord Sylvester, as the secret of the “protective” charm is revealed. Main’s future and past are about to change. One last meeting with her family, and some heartfelt blessings. Long live Rozemyne.

Spy x Family part 2

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “Nightfall / First Fit of Jealousy”

Nightfall, a WISE agent under the alias Fiona Frost, visits the Forgers to notify Loid that they will be working together for their next mission. Fiona also comes with the intention of replacing Yor because she is secretly in love with Loid. Bond becomes jealous of Anya’s stuffed penguin and destroys it, upsetting her.

retro item – Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki

Tenchi Masaki was a normal 17-year-old boy until the day he accidentally releases the space pirate, Ryoko, from a cave she was sealed in 700 years ago as the people thought she was a demon. In a series of events, four other alien girls show up at the Masaki household as Tenchi learns much of his heritage he never knew about and deal with five alien girls who each have some sort of romantic interest in him.

This evening’s Episode: “Here Comes Ayeka! ”

Ayeka Masaki Jurai awakens from her sleep and arrives on Earth in pursuit of Ryoko and her half-brother/fiancée Yosho. The battle ensues, and in short order the guardians Azaka and Kamadake capture both Ryoko and Tenchi. Later, while Ayeka sleeps, Tenchi meets her younger sister Sasami.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These (Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Die Neue These Kaikou) second season

In humanity’s distant future, two interstellar states – the monarchic Galactic Empire and the democratic Free Planets Alliance – are embroiled in a never-ending war. The story focuses on the exploits of rivals Reinhard von Lohengramm and Yang Wen-li as they rise to power and fame in the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance respectively.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Yang Fleet mobilises”

On the capital planet of the Free Planets Alliance the first shot in the insurrection is fired, and despair begins to spread. An old friend of Yang’s stirs up further dissent, while Yang is ordered to suppress the revolts on four planets. But can he stop a coup d’etat ked by a surprising opponent? And what of the future of his ward Julian?

Jujutsu Kaisen

Negative human emotions – regret, bitterness, shame – are the source of all curses that infest the world and hide in everyday life, leading to death in the worst cases. Yuji Itadori, a particularly strong young man, attempts to save a friend from a curse, only to wind up consuming the special grade curse of Ryoumen Sukuna’s finger. Only a curse can eliminate another curse, and Yuji’s career as a cursed person who must exorcise curses has now begin.

Tonight’s Episodes: “After Rain” and “Assault”

Megumi and Nobara train with the second-year trio to get ready for the tournament, which is set to take place in a month. In exchange for his heart back, Sukuna tricks Yuji into making a deal with him that will let Sukuna take over at anytime. The pact is erased from Yuji’s memory as part of the deal. Yuji awakens and Gojo tells Ieiri to hold off on reporting Yuji’s resuscitation. He begins training Yuji to manage his cursed energy. Gojo explains his ability: he can manipulate speed and the cursed energy around him into an “infinity” that slows down any attacks before they hit him; therefore, his attackers cannot touch him at all.

Tokyo Revengers

Watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his girlfriend from way back in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girlfriend he ever had was just killed by a villainous group known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a crappy apartment with thin walls, and his younger boss treats him like an idiot. At the height of his rock-bottom life, he suddenly time-leaps twelve years back to his middle school days. To save Hinata, and change the life he spent running away, hopeless part-timer Takemichi must aim for the top of Kanto’s most sinister delinquent gang.

Tonight’s Episode: “Respect”

Draken is rushed to the hospital and survives after a successful operation. Takemichi is subsequently crowned a “legend” for stopping the fight and relishes in his newfound popularity. Draken and Mikey gifted takemichi Mikey’s uniform which he had worn when toman was formed. He goes to visit Hinata one last time before he returns to the present, and gifts her a necklace.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Revolutionary” season 3

Sugimoto’s group get closer to Asirpa who is with Kiroranke in Ako. At a Nivkh village in Ako, Kiroranke discovers that other revolutionaries in addition to Sofia are held in the Alexandrovskaya Prison and tells the others that they could help the Ainu. In a flashback, to the period following the assassination of Emperor Alexander II, Kiroranke, Wilk and Sofia fled to Vladivostok.

Summer Time Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Shinpei Ajiro’s Longest Day”

As Shinpei mourns Hizuru on the beach, Seido informs him about the whereabouts of her corpse. Shinpei insists that the cause of death should be ruled as murder and they begin theorizing about the existence of the second Shide. To Seido’s surprise, Shinpei predicts a lightning strike. Shadow-Mio helps Shinpei realize why Haine and Shide were scared of the seashell necklace. Is it time for shadow-Ushio to return?
