The less said about the mixup in “Golden Kamuy” episodes last week, the happier the rather contrite and very apologetic MC will be. Sorry.

Barring a resurgence of COVID-19 pestilence, these fannish events of interest are scheduled to happen:

• November 19^th to 20^th 2022, 10AM to 6PM — [ KaiCon ] Kaiga Anime Convention 2022 at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

• November 26^th 2022 — JAFWA’s 32^nd birthday, and Event Afternoon.

• Saturday December 10^th 2022, 5:15PM to 10:30PM — JAFWA’s final screening of the year. Will be a non-regular program, so we are taking suggestions for what one-off items you want to be screened that night.
• Saturday January 14^th 2023 — as the Solstice festivities wane, JAFWA returns for a new year!

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! (Hataraku Maou-sama!) season 2

Having been thwarted in his attempts to conquer Ente Isla, the mighty demon lord Satan escapes through a portal with his general Alciel… And winds up in modern day Tokyo with very little magical power left. His resources for world domination now consist of a tiny rented apartment and a job at a fast food restaurant. To survive and find a way to return to Ente Isla, Satan adopts the name Sadao Maou and finds that the Hero Emilia is in similar circumstances.

This evening’s Episode: “The Devil Is at Sea After Losing His Home and His Job”

Maou is hit with the sudden reveal of a temporary suspension of his job at MgRonald’s due to renovations, as well as needing to move out of their apartment for repairs. Maou, accompanied by Emi, visits Chiho’s house to watch a video tape sent by his landlord, Shiba, who informs him her niece is looking for workers for a beach hut in Choushi with pay plus room and board.

Ascendance of a Bookworm (Honzuki no Gekokujou) season 3

The story follows Motosu Urano, a book-loving post-secondary student and soon-to-be librarian who ends up crushed to death beneath a pile of books during an earthquake. With her dying breath, she wishes to be reincarnated in a world where she can read books forever. Urano awakens in the body of a weak, five-year-old girl named Myne in a world where books are scarce and only available to elites. Myne, retaining her memories from her previous life, decides to create and print her own books so that she can read again.

This evening’s Episode: “The Dedication Ceremony and Spring Arrives”

Main refuses the protection that becoming Karstedt’s adoptive daughter would bring, while Wolf tries to hunt her down. Though she has gained the knight Sir Damuel to be her bodyguard during the Winter. The Library awaits, but so does the important Dedication Ceremony.

Spy x Family part 2

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “A New Family Member”

Loid manages to lock the bomb dog in a dumpster and throw the bomb into the river where it explodes harmlessly. Keith flees the scene but crashes his car by a kick from Yor, who is looking for Anya. With the terrorism incident resolved, Loid returns to his family, and they decide to adopt the white dog with Sylvia’s approval.

Shadow’s House season 2

In a Western-style mansion on a cliff lives the aristocratic, faceless Shadow family. They live together with lifelike doll attendants who serve as their faces. After finishing their “debut,” Kate, Emilico and three other pairs who started with them begin a new life as adults. With the mystery of the “Shadows House” still unsolved, a new incident occurs in the children’s wing. Kate and Emilico, whom the Star Bearers suspect of being malcontents, investigate a mysterious robed Shadow who may be the culprit.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Value of Friends ”

John’s soot-punch attack backfires when Maryrose takes control of his soot, making a huge phantom and many high-density small scorches. Emiliko and Shaun recover from soot-sickness thanks to Kate’s planning. Maryrose captures Kate and John but the tables are turned thanks to Shaun’s idea.

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou) season 2

An orphan girl named Riko who lives in the town of Ousu on an island in the sea of Beoluska. The city surrounds a strange, giant hole going deep into the earth, which is commonly called the Abyss. The Abyss harbours artefacts and remnants of a civilisation long gone, and is therefore the popular hunting spot for so-called Cave Raiders, who undertake arduous and dangerous descends into the mist-filled pit to recover whatever relics they can find. However, the deeper one goes into the Abyss, the more one is afflicted by a progressively fatal malady called the Curse of the Abyss; few who have descended into the lower regions have returned to tell of their experiences.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Luring ”

Riko considers making the trade, but is stopped by Majikaja and Maaa. As Riko tries to find a way to rescue Nanachi, a monster enters the village and begins attacking the Hollows. Vueko explains it is part of a ritual called the “Luring”, where since the villagers cannot leave to hunt, they instead lure monsters inside village. As the battle rages on, Riko recovers her White Whistle, now carved into its true shape.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) season 2

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a fantasy world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Kizuna” and “Reason to Fight”

After Raphtalia’s reunion with her party, Kizuna is reunited with Glass, L’Arc, and Therese. At the same time, Kyo visits and taunts the still stunned Kazuki, resulting in him moving and being cut in half. His two companions mourn his death, while a green-haired woman appears before Kyo, saying she’ll eliminate their threats. The next day as the party suits up to take on Kyo, the Waves abruptly activate, teleporting Kizuna, Yomogi, Glass, L’Arc, and Therese away from Naofumi and his party.

Tokyo Revengers

Watching the news, Takemichi Hanagaki learns that his girlfriend from way back in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girlfriend he ever had was just killed by a villainous group known as the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a crappy apartment with thin walls, and his younger boss treats him like an idiot. At the height of his rock-bottom life, he suddenly time-leaps twelve years back to his middle school days. To save Hinata, and change the life he spent running away, hopeless part-timer Takemichi must aim for the top of Kanto’s most sinister delinquent gang.

Tonight’s Episode: “Regret”

A flashback reveals Draken’s childhood and how he and Mikey became friends. In the present, Takemichi and Naoto locate Nobutaka Osanai, the former president of Moebius, who is now a timid construction worker. Despite denying direct responsibility for Draken’s death, Osanai claims that the fight between the Tokyo Manji Gang and Moebius was intentionally orchestrated and also triggered an internal conflict in the Tokyo Manji Gang.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Stenka” season 3

Through the tavern owner, the Japanese group is asked to throw the fight to have their dog returned, but they angrily decline. Their main opponent at the second Stenka is their target, the tattooed prisoner Gansoku. The bout begins with Sugimoto taking on Gansoku and ends with only Gansoku and the Japanese standing with Sugimoto punch drunk after suffering too many blows to the head.

SummerTime Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Lights, Camera, Action”

Shinpei realizes what happened, that it was a mistake to leave Nezu out so far away. He also notices, that the “event horizon” has caught up closely to him, so if he dies too quickly, he will no longer be able to loop and they will lose. The group prepares to make their stand at the school, just as Haine, Shide and hundreds of Shadows boldly approach.
