AGM and Screening on Saturday 16th July 2022

Annual General Meeting before JAFWA Screening

This it!
After announcing it at JAFWA for many weeks, it is finally upon us!

Please be advised that on the 16th of July 2022 the Japanese Animation Fans of Western Australia will be holding it’s 2022 Annual General Meeting.

The meeting will be held at the Collins Street Centre in South Perth from 2:00pm onwards. The regular screening will commence afterwards, and during the dinner break the committee election will be held.

We request that all current members attend to meet quorum requirements and to have your voices heard! Please arrive about 10 minutes early.

If you have any matters you would like to have raised at the meeting, please email them through to jafwa.anime@gmail.com. Preferably sufficiently in advance so that we can accurately prepare our response.
Currently, this is the list of submitted AGM agenda items.

Screening on the evening of Saturday, July 16th 2022

After the fun and excitement of the AGM, it is time to embrace the cultural goodness that is anime.

The response to the new regular series we started last week has been positive, including voting to move “Golden Kamuy” earlier into the program.
Settle now into the comforts of July, as you safely attend JAFWA. We even have a preview episode to expand your repertoire of anime.

Dawn of the Witch

If we are very lucky, will have enough nominees for the JAFWA elections to be held during the Dinner Break.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Log Horizon series III – Destruction of the Round Table

It’s been a year since Shiroe and his friends were trapped in Akiba due to the Catastrophe. Their forging of the Round Table has brought order and prosperity to its people. But fracturing political alliances and the constant menace of the Genius monsters threaten to destabilize all they’ve fought for and built.

This evening’s Episode: “The Duke of Akiba”

Ein’s new title as Duke of Akiba gives hope to the People of the Land living in the city, who believe that their situation will improve, but Shiroe and his friends are worried about how it would affect the Round Table and the relations between Akiba and Eastal.

Spy x Family

In order to ensure World Peace, a master spy who has to “build a family” to execute a mission, not realising that the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath, and the woman he agrees to be in a marriage with is a skilled assassin.

This evening’s Episode: “Secure a Wife”

Yor Briar, a clerk at Berlint City Hall, is ostracized by her colleagues for being single, leading to a fear that her secret assassin job will be exposed as she is speculated to be a spy. At a tailor shop, Loid and Yor encounter each other and they agree to form a partnership out of convenience. However, on the night Loid is supposed to attend a party with Yor, a side mission causes him to arrive late and he accidentally introduces himself as her husband.

Deaimon

Nagomu is a man who left his home in Kyoto and his family’s confectionery shop when he became a musician. Upon hearing that his father has been hospitalized though, he comes back home to take over the family business. However, while he was gone, a young girl named Itsuka started working at the shop. The whereabouts of Itsuka’s parents is unknown, and she has no other relatives, and Nagomu finds himself as foster parent for Itsuka. Itsuka, on the other hand, dislikes Nagomu for abandoning the family to become a musician. She proclaims that it will be her who will take over the shop one day instead of Nagomu.

Tonight’s Episode: “Autumn’s Potato Moon”

Itsuka’s school holds its district sports festival in which whole families compete together. Heigo insists they will compete as Itsuka’s family. Nagomu asks if Itsuka wants him for the parent/child race, but is rejected. On the day of the festival Itsuka is sad her real father is absent, yet Nagomu’s cheering makes her feel better. Itsuka’s mother, Shinri, appears at Ryokushou.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s greatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organisation that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “Win or Lose in 0.1 Seconds ”

Linfeng Wang, a former chief engineer at ICPO, who is completely infatuated with Lupin, has formed Wangtic, a security firm which prides itself on its new “L System”, designed to thwart even Lupin’s most clever disguises. Wang issues a challenge to Lupin to steal a unique coin, the Flowing Hair Dollar, from her heavily guarded Wangtic headquarters. Lupin accepts, but in order to disable the L System, he and his gang have to shut down its four power supplies at the same time.

Steins; Gate

Rintaro Okabe is a self-proclaimed “mad scientist” who believes that an international organization is conspiring to reshape the world according to its own interests. He and his friend Itaru Hashida inadvertently create a gadget able to send messages to the past. The discovery and experimentation of this instrument become the catalyst of fundamental alterations to the present. Oblivious of the consequences of their actions, Rintaro and his friends end up creating modifications of grievous proportions. He must then try to find a way to return as close as possible to the original timeline in order to save his precious lab members.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Endless Apoptosis ”

Arriving at Moeka’s apartment only to learn that she committed suicide, Rintaro leaps to an earlier time, finding Moeka to be a nervous wreck due to not having been contacted by a person known as FB, who had given her the orders to find the IBN 5100.

Saybil/Cervil, a young magic school student, has lost his memory. With nothing to guide him to clues regarding his past life, he meets a silver-haired woman, along with the promise of “special training”. However, all is not as it seems. And what are the intentions of the mysterious witch, with eyes like his own, who had recruited him?

Tonight’s Episode: “The Remedial Student and the Witch of the Staff”

In the Kingdom of Wenias Royal Academy of Magic, a gloomy student with no memory of his past is summoned to the mysterious Headmaster’s office. But there is a weirdo in the way, but Loux Krystas the Dawn Witch claims she will aid Saybil in his task to set up a witch town in the hostile South. Fortunately he may get some other, more reliable companions. A world of witches, beastfallen and the Grimoire of Zero.

Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) – season 2

Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted and intelligent boy who lives with his family, making money by selling charcoal. Everything changes when his family is attacked and slaughtered by demons (oni). Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko are the sole survivors of the incident. Nezuko has now become a demon, but still surprisingly shows signs of human emotion and thought. Tanjiro becomes a demon slayer to help his sister turn human again and to prevent the same tragedy that happened to him and his sister, from happening to others.

Tonight’s Episode: “Tonight ” Entertainment District arc

Tanjiro and Inosuke meet to exchange information. Inosuke claims his House has a demon, but their conversation is interrupted by Tengen. Realizing Zenitsu is missing, Tengen dismisses Tanjiro and Inosuke, not wanting them to risk their lives for his needs. The two refuse to abandon him and re-arm for battle.

Golden Kamuy

Saichi Sugimoto, a survivor of the battle of 203 Hill in the Russo-Japanese War has become a miner in Hokkaido in order to provide for the widow of his dead comrade, Toraji. He hears a dubious story of hidden Ainu gold stashed by a criminal group, and accidentally finds clues to its location. He decides to search for the gold along with an Ainu girl, Asirpa, who rescues him from Hokkaido’s harsh northern wilderness. Though other parties are also hunting for the gold.

Tonight’s Episode: “Fakes” season 2

Sugimoto and Shiraishi track Hajime Tsukishima, a sergeant in the 7th, back to Edogai’s workshop, and find it under attack by Ogata. Edogai flees into a mine, where he is caught in a series of explosions; he dies, but is able to relay to Tsukishima how to distinguish the fake skins. Hijikata and Sugimoto’s groups meet, and reluctantly agree to cease hostilities now that Tsurumi possesses fake tattooed skins.

Summer Time Rendering

Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island.

Tonight’s Episode: “Shadows”

Shinpei convinces himself it was a nightmare. However, upon arriving at the island he finds the day plays out exactly like before and notices the sound of a camera at Ushio’s funeral. This time Shinpei is present when Mio stares vacantly at the house, and when Tetsu arrives he sees her murder Tetsu, causing him to realize she is Shadow Mio.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 4 part B

Young Eldian Warrior candidates Gabi Braun and Falco Grice, seeking to inherit Reiner’s Armored Titan four years after the failed mission to claim the Founding Titan. As Marley’s dominance over competing nations begins to weaken due to the development of anti-titan weaponry, they plan to invade Paradis to develop their military using the resources on the island and also recover the Founding Titan. However, Eren Yeager and the Survey Corps have reached the Marley shoreline
.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Memories of the Future”

Using the Paths, Zeke shows Eren his life from birth through their father Grisha’s memories, hoping to convince Eren that Grisha has brainwashed him. However, they discover that Grisha had instead forsaken his Eldian nationalism and allowed Eren to find his own path in life. Zeke states that with the power of the Founding Titan, he can still carry out the euthanisation plan.
