JAFWA intends to return after the New Year’s break, on January 8^th, 2022, though at a later start time ~6:00PM for that week only, because the Doctor Who club booked the afternoon before we reserved the evening.

Welcome to 2022. We didn’t manage to finish all of our regular series from 2021, so we will have a few familiar programs this session. And because our dear JAFWAites voted for next season of a couple of series, some of our starting series will also be familiar. Due to this week’s shortened timeframe, not all our new series start tonight, there will be a couple for next week. And the joy of preview episodes is not to be had this week either.

Cash for Containers

As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contract Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.

Fruits Basket – final season

After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when stressed or grasped by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

This evening’s Episode: “I Just Love Her ” season 3

Tohru and Kureno (the former Rooster) are recovering from their wounds at a hospital and Akito pays them a visit to apologize for all the trouble she caused (not just stabbing-related). Meanwhile, Kyo (the reviled Cat) confronts his father and remembers the truth about his mother’s suicide, while Yuki (the Rat) realizes his feelings for fellow student Machi.

Shadows House (Shadoo Hausu)

In a grandiose and dark mansion, the denizens of the Shadow House live, attended by their Living Doll partners who endlessly clean the soot their masters emit. Emilico, a young and cheerful Living Doll, is delighted to start serving her mistress Kate. As the two grow closer and are slowly exposed to various events within the House, they start to discover a number of dark secrets.

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Final Pair”

Not having enough time to walk back to the maze’s entrance, Emiliko uses the cart to ride the waterways and Kate shows amazing mastery of her soot. While walking together Shirley makes Rum happy by saying her name, but they run out of time. Later there is a party for the successful debutantes where the living-dolls are served a special coffee. Edward is received by the high-ranking Shadows and asked to explain about Morphs and Shadows. Although being scolded for only having failed one pair of debutantes, Edward is given the responsibility of the Shadow-House’s Children Wing by Lord Grandfather. Rum is repurposed as a faceless-doll and Kate realizes that Emiliko’s personality seems altered somehow.

Restaurant to Another World (Isekai Shokuduu) season 2

The Western Restaurant Nekoya is a restaurant situated in a mundane corner of an undisclosed Tokyo shopping district which offers a lot of Japanese versions of Western dishes. It opens during usual business hours but is closed during holidays and weekends. But secretly it is also open on Saturdays, as on this particular day it creates doorways to another world inhabited by elves, dragons, animal men and other fantastic creatures, who enter the restaurant and partake of its exotic food, with many of them becoming regular patrons. But while Nekoya mainly offers food, it is also a place where relationships are forged, inspirations made, and salvation for the needy is provided.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Cheesecake / Breakfast Again ”

While eliminating a band of goblins, demon bounty hunter Hilda chances upon a Nekoya door and thus becomes one of the restaurant’s regulars for its soufflé cheesecake. After the day’s work is finished, the Master gives Aletta the Waitress a portion of corn potage and mince meat cutlet sandwich before she returns home to Sarah Gold’s house, enabling Aletta and Sarah to share a hearty breakfast together.

Fena: Pirate Princess (Kaizoku Oujo)

An orphan girl, Fena Houtman, has been raised on an Island where there is no hope of becoming anything more than chattel, to be used and discarded by soldiers of the British Empire. But Fena is more than just another powerless orphan. When her mysterious past comes knocking, Fena will break the chains of her oppressors.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Memories ”

Ten years ago, Fena Houtman washed ashore on the colonized island of Shangri-La after her family’s ship was attacked in the dead of night and was saved by a boy named Yukimaru. In the present day, Fena is put in an arranged marriage to an ill-tempered British soldier in an attempt to escape the island with the money. That evening, after her plans hit a snag, she is saved by Otto and Salman, two senior knights who used to serve her family. Fena is then saved by a small group of hidden warriors.

Lupin III part 6

The World’s geatest gentleman thief Lupin III, and cohorts, contending with detective Sherlock Holmes when Lupin becomes the top suspect in the murder of the former’s longtime partner, Dr. Watson. Lupin is also after a treasure hidden by The Raven, a mysterious organization that manipulates the British government from the shadows

Tonight’s Episodes: “Episode 0: The Times ”

Lupin, Jigen and Goemon end up in jail after being betrayed again by Fujiko and captured by police using the latest high-tech weaponry: armed drones equipped with AI programming and plastic guns which spray quick-setting adhesive. Jigen laments how much has changed in the modern world and he contemplates quitting the thievery business and leaving Lupin and Goemon.

Vivy – Fluorite Eyes Song

A songstress AI named Vivy is given the mission of making people happy with her songs, and works to one day take the main stage of the amusement park where she works. However, she encounters another AI named Matsumoto who claims to have been sent from 100 years in the future in order to prevent a destructive war between humans and AIs, starting Vivy’s 100-year journey to save the world.

This evening’s Episode: “Harmony of One’s Heart – My Mission, Your Future ”

Diva wakes up to find she has been captured by the suspicious man, who looks just like a younger Yugo (the Toak terrorist). This Yugo is revealed to be an AI copy of him created to ask Vivy why she deviated from her programming, revealing that his hatred for AIs stems from his AI pianist teacher deviating from his programming and dying whilst trying to save people in a car accident. Meanwhile Matsumoto has to deal with the AI that has hijacked Ophelia. And Diva risks dying so that Vivy may return.

Talentless Nana (Munou na Nana)

An academy on an island in unnavigable waters. There, students trained tirelessly to fight back against the enemies of humanity. Nana, a student newly transferred there, also sets out with the intention of eradicating all enemies of humankind.

This evening’s Episodes: “Talented vs. Talentless Part 3 ”

After disposing of Yuuka’s (the necromancer) body, Nana comes across Kirara, who explains that she had a fight with Kaori. Nana then poisons Kirara and forces her to give up her phone’s password. Afterwards, she heads to Kaori’s room to tamper with her contact case. In the hallway, Nana tells Kyouya that Yuuka is dead. When Nana, Kyouya, Michiru, Seiya, and Moguo arrive the cliff, Nana claims Yuuka committed suicide after she managed to get through to her.

Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero) season 2 part B

Subaru Natsuki is an ordinary high school student who is lost in an alternate world, where he is rescued by a beautiful, silver-haired girl. He stays near her to return the favor, but the destiny she is burdened with is more than Subaru can imagine. Enemies attack one by one, and both of them are killed. He then finds out he has the power to rewind death, back to the time he first came to this world. But only he remembers what has happened since.

This evening’s Episodes: “STRAIGHT BET”

Otto convinces Subaru to let him help and, after telling him everything, the two form a plan. The next day, Subaru confronts Roswaal with a wager: if he saves both Sanctuary and the mansion in this loop Roswaal will give up his tome. Roswaal agrees under the proviso that if he wins Subaru will follow the tome’s instructions. After talking to Ryuzu about Garfiel, Subaru checks on Emilia and she tells him about her past.
