Screening on the evening of December 11th 2021
Welcome back to the final screening of 2021, ready for a fresh start on our return in 2022 on January 8th. We have a few more regular series to finish, so as not to inflict a long break before we resume in 2022. But that does leave a couple of series that won’tfinish in time.
Cash for Containers
As people may have noticed, JAFWA collects the recyclable containers (cans and bottles) that are disposed of by our attendees. It helps in a small way.

Covid-19 Safety Precautions
We continue taking precautions to limit the possible future waves of CoVid-19, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
– Help is always welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19 precautions.
– Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. There will be Contract Tracing, either by the SafeWA app on your keitai (mobile phones), or by signing in at the contact tracing sheet near the entry.

Fruits Basket – final season
After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when stressed or grasped by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.
This evening’s Episode: “What’s Your Name? ” season 3
After stabbing Kureno (the former Rooster), a deranged Akito (the God of the Zodiac) approaches Tohru and intends to attack her. Tohru calms Akito down, but when the two are about to reach a compromise, Tohru suffers an accident and her life is at risk.
Shadows House (Shad? Hausu)
In a grandiose and dark mansion, the denizens of the Shadow House live, attended by their Living Doll partners who endlessly clean the soot their masters emit. Emilico, a young and cheerful Living Doll, is delighted to start serving her mistress Kate. As the two grow closer and are slowly exposed to various events within the House, they start to discover a number of dark secrets.
Tonight’s Episodes: “In the Palm of His Hand” and “A Birdcage and Flowers”
Ricky and Lou happen on Shirley, then Lou finds Louise by recognizing the way her soot is emitted. Emiliko and Rum have to go through a section of walled maze filled with scorches (malicious small creatures made of soot). Rum confides that she named herself, as Shirley never spoke to her and didn’t give her a name. Kate is suspended in a cage above thorns, and the chains are breaking one after the other. Edward talks with the two other survivors of his own debut, and reveals his true motivations for organizing the current event. Rum attempts to free Shirley. Meanwhile Ricky has to trust and collaborate with Shaun, which is made difficult by their ongoing rivalry. Kate and Emiliko realize Edward has set them up for failure, but the girl comes up with a daring plan to save her shadow-mistress.
So I’m a Spider, So What? (Kuma desu ga, nanika)
After a Japanese classroom was destroyed by a mysterious explosion all the students reincarnated as humans on a fantasy world except for a female student who had the lowest reputation on the classroom, she was reincarnated as a spider monster. Being the weakest monster on the dungeon she need to survive using all her human intellect and courage.
Tonight’s Episodes: “My Old Friend, Why …? ” and “So I’m Still a Spider, So What? ” Finale
The Demon army approaches but Potimas is unconcerned and orders his new Gloria units into battle. Shun overpowers Hugo easily and Sophia refuses to help him. Merazophis, commander of the 4th Demon army arrives, revealing his demons have invaded the elf village. Shun attacks Sophia supported by his teammates but they are overpowered, Sophia revealing they are only still alive because her master told her not to kill any reincarnations. Wrath, another reincarnation formerly named Kyouya Sasajima, now a commander of the 8th Demon army appears with reinforcements, but elven soldiers inform Shun he must leave to fight the Demon Lord. The Gloria units, mechanical monsters resembling tanks, arrive and fire rockets at Sophia and Wrath. In a panic, Shun revives Anna using his skill
retro – Shoujo Kakumei Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena)
Utena Tenjou, a teenage girl who expresses her desire to be a prince through her strong-willed personality and tomboyish manner of dress. She finds herself drawn into a series of sword duels at Ohtori Academy, to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the “Rose Bride” who possesses the “power to revolutionize the world”.
Tonight’s Episodes: “The End of the World ” and “Someday, We Will Shine Together ” Finale
Akio reveals himself as Utena’s prince, the “End of the World”, and the orchestrator of the pain and suffering of the duels. He tries to woo Utena into giving him her soul’s sword; when she rejects him rather than abandoning Anthy, he shows her the harsh reality behind the duels. Even when confronted with how she has compromised her own nobility, Utena chooses to fight, and she and Akio engage in the final and most dangerous duel. But whose side is Anthy on? Akio needs Utena’s soul sword in order to try and open the Rose Gate, where the power to revolutionize the world is said to dwell.
Vivy – Fluorite Eyes Song
A songstress AI named Vivy is given the mission of making people happy with her songs, and works to one day take the main stage of the amusement park where she works. However, she encounters another AI named Matsumoto who claims to have been sent from 100 years in the future in order to prevent a destructive war between humans and AIs, starting Vivy’s 100-year journey to save the world.
This evening’s Episode: “Elegy Dedicated With Love – My One and Only Beloved Partner ”
Matsumoto explains that, in the original timeline, Ophelia’s suicide, which was unprecedented for an AI, sparked a string of similar incidents. While the amnesiac Diva remains skeptical, she does not want Ophelia to die and asks her if there is “something that would make her want to commit suicide”. Confused, Ophelia tells Diva about her old manager AI Antonio, the only person who would encourage her when she was a struggling newbie idol, who mysteriously shut down a few years ago.
Talentless Nana (Mun? na Nana)
An academy on an island in unnavigable waters. There, students trained tirelessly to fight back against the enemies of humanity. Nana, a student newly transferred there, also sets out with the intention of eradicating all enemies of humankind.
This evening’s Episodes: “Necromancer ” and “Necromancer Part 2 ”
When Michiru hands Nana the incriminating photo, Nana convinces Michiru that Tsunekichi was not as clairvoyant as he claimed. Afterwards, Michiru reveals that she tried to resurrect Tsunekichi. At Tsunekichi’s funeral, Ky?ya requests that an autopsy be performed. However, Nana takes him outside where they have a conversation. When they return to the funeral, Shinji Kazama uses his necromancy to control Tsunekichi. In the infirmary, Nana pretends that she is tired so she can sneak out and kill Shinji the Necromancer. A task my difficult and complicated than expected, as Shinji’s girlfriend Y?ka Sasaki uses her talent to interfere.
