Screening on Saturday 19th September 2020

Life here is WA has been spared the worst of the pandemic, and we are carefully celebrating, as with the recent South West Festival of Japan down in Bunbury. And let us not forget that screenings continue here at JAFWA.
As you may have noticed last week, our banner sign has attracted some of the more curious of the South Perth residents, and we hope to see more new faces in the following weeks. Excellent wishes to these new friends of ours.

While the pandemic has upset the production of anime in Japan for a few months, the upcoming season in October looks to be chock full of delights, though more than a few seem to be sequel seasons to popular anime. The current paucity of titles is soon to explode, but none-the-less we may have found a couple of preview episodes, based off of comments from our dear JAFWAites in the monthly Surveys, for your consideration.

How Heavy are the Dumbbells you Lift Skull-faced Bookseller Honda-san

JAFWA’s 30th anniversary is quickly approaching, and a reminder that we still have a limited number of tickets for a Japanese Tea Ceremony on the day. Buy your ticket early!

As a side note, quite a few people seem to think 2020 is not a very good year. Be aware that we have entered the new calendar season, and some Japanese calendars have been listed already, such as here and here. Do you want to be cheered up by 2021?

We continue taking precautions to limit the possible second wave of Corona, and we ask that you co-operate and even help where possible with our efforts to keep you safe – some social distancing, extra cleaning with antiseptic, library under limited access, etc. Also, we must ask that anyone unfortunate enough to be infected to not attend JAFWA until they are contagion free.
Help would be welcome during set-up and pack-up due to the extra duties imposed by COVID-19. Set Up begins ~4:45pm, while the Screening should begin at 5:15pm, or later should the set-up not yet be complete. Please arrive early to confirm personal details due to COVID 19 regulations. And we need to wipe the chairs down before they are stacked away.
