Event Afternoon and Screening on Saturday 30^th November 2019

Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 1PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen if needed. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall. And a personal note from the MC, he wishes you to believe that he is allergic to nerf bullets.

Screening

Below is the program for the evening of Saturday November 30^th, 2019.

This is the last week of regular program for 2019, before we prepare for the End of Year marathon screening in December. Then we take a break to recharge our batteries for our trimphant return in 2020. Thouhj there will be a few series coming to their conclusion this week.

On December 14^th we will have our end of year marathon screening, before we take a break until January, starting from 1PM. Be aware that we intend to run an auction (some items listed here) on behalf of our members. Tell us what you want us to auction of yours, preferably well in advance, so we can schedule enough time into the program, as well as inform people so that they can bring plenty of money to bid. Already, a couple of expensive “Attack on Titan” figures have been proffered.

Fruits Basket (2019 remake)

After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when touched by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

This evening’s Episode: “You Look Like You’re Having Fun”

The second school year begins with Tohru looking forward to meet Hatsuharu the Ox and Momiji the Rabbit as first years, with Kyo the Cat reluctantly accompanying her. However, Kyo is shocked that Momiji is wearing a girl’s uniform and Hatsuharu is wearing jewelry and having two different hair colors, which they got scolded by the student council president Takei Makoto. Later, Tohru meets Akito Sohma, the current head of the Sohma family and the one Momiji warns Yuki and Kyo not to cross paths with.

Kanata no Astra (Astra: Lost in Space)

In the year 2063, travelling through space has become commonplace. Eight students from Caird High School, along with one child, set out for a school camp on a nearby planet. However, the students are then mysteriously transported 5,000 light years away from home, with no way to call for help. Aboard an abandoned spaceship they call the Astra, these nine students slowly try to make their way back and figure out why they were transported in the first place.

Despite Charce’s actions, the wounded Kanata and the rest of the group still accept Charce as one of their own, convincing him to live for himself. After they forage enough food to leave Galem and Kanata has had some time to rest with Aries taking care of him, Charce tells everybody about the truth of Astra and Vixia, the wormholes and the errors with history.

Mob Psycho 100

Shigeo Kageyama’s nickname is “Mob”. A slang term for a background character, someone who doesn’t stand out. In truth he is an incredibly powerful psychic who has suppressed his emotions in order to avoid causing a catastrophe. Mob would like nothing better than to live a normal life and have feelings just like anyone else, but with his incredible psychic powers there’s no telling what might happen if he did.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Master -Leader- ” and “Mob and Reigen -A Giant Tsuchinoko Appears- ” finale

In an attempt to resuce his younger brother Ritsu (and his fellow Awakening pyschics) form the regional headquarters of the aspiring World Domination organisation Claw, Mob along with Teru and the evil spirit Dimple have ended up captured and entrapped. With all seeminglylost, the leader of the psychic organisation Claw finally arrives. Now our heroes can only hope to have Reigin the conman to rescue them, as he has gotten rather worried as to why Mob is late to his part-time job. What will Reigen do when he eventually learns that Mob begrudgingly broke his promise to not use psychic powers against people? Is the philosphy of rn away to survive another day applicable here?

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.

Shocked by the revelation that there are other worlds under attack from the Chaos waves, and he must dies in order to save the other world, Noafumi is uncertain of what he should do. Naofumi confronts Glass in single combat, where she reveals herself as a Hero from L’Arc’s homeworld, the “Fan Hero.” Naofumi discovers Glass is weak against his Soul Eater shield, but hesitates, unwilling to kill her since he realizes she’s trying to protect her own world.

Dororo

From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Story of the Demons” and “Dororo and Hyakkimaru” finale

Daigo villagers near the border prepare for the impending war and Midoro’s foal runs away. Hyakkimaru, riding the demonically re-animated hores Midoro, attacks Tahoumaru, Mutsu and Hyogo to reclaim his eyes and arms. Meanwhile, his mother Nuinokata and Dororo arrive at the battle but are held back by the Biwa-Houshi. Will nothing prevent the battle to the death between the brothers Hyakkimaru and Tahoumaru?

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)

Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Gold Experience Requiem” and ““The Sleeping Slave” finale

Giorno’s stand Gold Experience has taken upon the power of the Aroow, nad has negated King Crimson’s time ski abilities. Mortally wounded in battle with Giorno, Diavolo falls into the river. With so many dead, what comes next? In a flashback to before Bucciarati and the others meet Giorno, a florist approaches Bucciarati and asks him to avenge his daughter. This is where Bucciarati will first embrace his eventual death.
