Screening on Saturday 9th November 2019

Below is the program for the evening of Saturday Movember 9th, 2019.

Welcome to November, the last month of 2019 with a regular program. We hope to finish as many of our regular series as possible this month, so that we start 2020 with a brand new programs. This week we see the finale of “Isekai Quartet”, and have two episodes of both “Mob Psycho 100” and “Dororo” this week.

Isekai Quartet

On December 14th we will have our end of year marathon screening, before we take a break until January, and your Suggestions are welcome as the program has not yet been finalised. The JAFWA committee has already scheduled room for “Akira”, and we have received a request for the movie “Millenium Actress”, as well as the “Girls und Panzer” movie, and something “Gundam”. Any other requests/suggestions?
Be aware, we also intend to run an auction on behalf of our members. Tell us what you want us to auction of yours, preferably well in advance, so we can schedule enough time into the program, as well as inform people so that they can bring plenty of money to bid. Already, a couple of expensive “Attack on Titan” figures have been proffered.

Fruits Basket (2019 remake)

After a family tragedy turns her life upside down, plucky high schooler Tohru Honda takes matters into her own hands and moves out into a tent. Unfortunately for her, she pitches her new home on private land belonging to the mysterious Sohma clan, and it isn’t long before the owners discover her secret. But, as Tohru quickly finds out when the family offers to take her in, the Sohmas have a secret of their own–when touched by the opposite sex, they turn into the animals of the Chinese Zodiac.

This evening’s Episode:See You When You Get Back

The New Year’s festivities approach, and Tohru’s friends Arisa and Saki ask if she can spend the New Year’s Eve at either of their houses. But Tohru declines and plans to spend the holidays with the 3 Sohmas. But the Sohmas will have a family only event to attend. Is it possible that Tohru may end up alone on the holiest day of the year, the first one since her mother died?

Isekai Quartet

One day, a magic button suddenly appears. The protagonists in KonoSuba, Overlord, Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil all press the button and move to a parallel world — another brand new isekai — where a new story featuring high school life begins.

This evening’s Episodes:Work Together! Field Day” and “Band Together! Quartet” (final)

The field day begins as Yunyun makes an appearance (as the sole member of Class 3) to continue her rivalry with Megumin. The classes face off against each other in a variety of games, but Reinhard’s abilities give him a slight advantage over those of Class 2. Finally, the last match is a “cavalry battle” game worth 100 million points. The teachers decide to field their own team. Principal Kurt feels the teachers are at a slight disadvantage and decides to activate a secret weapon from underneath the ground to help them: Destroyer from the KonoSuba world. Can our protagonists from Class 2 hope to win? What other “transfer students” from other worlds might turn up?

Kanata no Astra (Astra: Lost in Space)

In the year 2063, travelling through space has become commonplace. Eight students from Caird High School, along with one child, set out for a school camp on a nearby planet. However, the students are then mysteriously transported 5,000 light years away from home, with no way to call for help. Aboard an abandoned spaceship they call the Astra, these nine students slowly try to make their way back and figure out why they were transported in the first place.

This evening’s Episode:Lost and Found

The group brings the woman from the hibernation pod back to the Astra, where she tells them that she is Paulina Levinskaya, and an astronaut from the ship Ark VI. The Ark VI had originally been sent out 12 years before to find worlds suitable for human habitation, but was forced to crash land on Icriss, where the rest of the crew were lost. It is possible that the Ark VI may have the necessary components to repair the Astra. But what other secrets might be revealed?

Mob Psycho 100

Shigeo Kageyama’s nickname is “Mob”. A slang term for a background character, someone who doesn’t stand out. In truth he is an incredibly powerful psychic who has suppressed his emotions in order to avoid causing a catastrophe. Mob would like nothing better than to live a normal life and have feelings just like anyone else, but with his incredible psychic powers there’s no telling what might happen if he did.

Tonight’s Episodes:The Older Brother Bows -Destructive Intent- ” and “Claw -7th Division-

Mob is led by Teru to the rampaging Ritsu and the middle schools thugs. Mob is happy to see that Ritsu has finally developed psychic powers. Ritsu, still relishing in his powers, attempts to end his relationship with Mob, but is shocked to see Mob protecting him by apologizing on his behalf to the thugs. Then there are the mysterious adult espers who have their own plans…

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.

Tonight’s Episode:Four Heroes Council

The Shield Party’s Class Ups are automatically given for unknown reasons. During a banquet, The Four Heroes have a private meeting whist Raphtalia fights a drunken Bow Party member, Mald, for insulting Naofumi; causing a brawl amongst the Hero parties. The upcoming special Cal Mira Archipelago event, where everyone gains bonus experience points, will give the Heroes the opportunity to level up before the next Wave.

Dororo

From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.

Tonight’s Episodes:The Story of the Amanojaku ” and “The Story of the Nue

Hyakkimaru and Dororo seek the swordsmith named Munetsuna to repair the swords in Hyakkimaru’s prosthetic, but the villagers tell them Munetsuna’s swords are poor and his daughter Okowa is ugly. They find neither is true, although their house is filled with grotesque hyottoko masks. When Munetsuna takes the swords to a temple to be purified, an amanojaku casts a spell over Hyakkimaru, who begins to say and do the opposite of what he intends, ending his journey and deciding to marry with Okowa.
Meanwhile, Tahoumaru and his aides observe misfortune befalling Daigo’s villages, and since it started at the borders and is spreading inwards they suspect the demons are upset Hyakkimaru isn’t dead. Back in his compound, Kagemitsu Daigo realizes his deal with the demons has been revoked since the destruction of the Goddess of Mercy statue and the days of prosperity are over.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3 part 2

Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.

Tonight’s Episode:Attack Titan

Armin transcribes Eren detailing the flashback to Grisha learning the Owl’s full name as Eren Kruger, the officer explaining how his desire to restore Eldia led to him participating in his people’s persecution to maintain his cover. Kruger then reveals numerous other secrets of the Titans. Queen Historia has read reading Ymir’s farewell letter, glimpsing in her friend’s memories as a result. Hange expresses regret that their enemies now include other humans in addition to Titans.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)

Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.

Tonight’s Episode:The Requiem Quietly Plays, Part 1

The shadowy figure takes the Stand arrow from Diavolo and causes everyone in Rome to fall asleep. But upon awakening, our heroes discover a far more confusing secondary effect has taken place. The fatally injured Polbareff explains what he knows of their enemy, the boss Diavolo, Doppio, and the secrets of the Stand arrow. But where is the Boss, and where is Silver Chariot?
