Below is the program for the evening of Saturday June 22nd, 2019.
We thank Madman for providing those movie cels last week for door prizes. And we realise how “useful” buying extra Door Prize tickets can be. Did you watch Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? The Movie: Arrow of the Orion at the cinemas?
A few weeks back a silly little 12 minute show was screened before the main screening as part of the sound and vision check. Several of the attendees who arrived early asked about it, so as this week’s preview episode we will screen the two of the 12-minute episodes of “Isekai Quartet”. It just goes to show how many Isekai (aka “another world”) gernre anime is being produced these days, also it is kind of scary that JAFWA has screened all 4 original titles that this show is a chibi/super-deformed parody of, among all the other Isekai shows we have shown (I am personally hanging out for a second season of “Isekai Shokudou” aka “Restaurant from Another World”).

A reminder that the JAFWA AGM and committee elections are coming up in July. It is officially time to start thinking of your election pitches and how you will overlord it when you get elected to the JAFWA committee. Some of our dear JAFWAites looked thoughtful last week, when they were offered the chance at Glory (as well as some interesting experience to add to their resumes).
Also, please raise any issues you think need to be discussed at the AGM via the suggestions sheets, and/or e-mail so that the JAFWA committee can add and address the issue properly on the AGM agenda.

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue (My Housemate Is on My Lap, But Sometimes, on My Head)
Subaru, a 23-year-old introverted mystery writer, who adopts the cat Haru by chance. While he initially remains distant, they gradually bond with each other. Haru and Subaru rarely understand each other, but their misunderstandings lead to a common goal.
This evening’s Episode: “What I Want to Tell You ”
Pet-shop clerk and nearby neighbour Nana visits Subaru’s home and sees that he gives Haru too much food. To gradually decrease the intake, she gives him a bottle that dispenses food by rolling so that Haru can eat and exercise at the same time. But there is something about Nana that Haru the cat cannoy ignore.
Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime)
Living alone and never having had a girlfriend, 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is dissatisfied with how his life has turned out. But after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster.
This evening’s Episode: “Jura Forest Alliance ”
Rimuru forms the Jura Forest Alliance to allow the lizardmen, goblins, and orcs to live together in harmony, inadvertently ending up as the alliance’s chancellor. Rimuru bestows a name onto the Orc Lord’s son, evolving him into Orc King and the other orcs into High Orcs. But creating a new kingdom of monsters can worry the neighbours, and Hero King Gazel of the Dwarven kingdom comes calling.
Preview item – Isekai Quartet
One day, a magic button suddenly appears. The protagonists in KonoSuba, Overlord, Re:Zero ? Starting Life in Another World, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil all press the button and move to a parallel world — another brand new isekai — where a new story featuring high school life begins.
This evening’s Episodes: “Come Together! Quartet ” and “Tension! Introductions ”
In the KonoSuba world, Satou Kazuma’s party comes across a big red button. Meanwhile in the Overlord world inside the Great Tomb of Nazarick, Ainz Ooal Gown receives reports from Floor Guardian Demiurge of strange red buttons randomly appearing throughout Nazarick. Both series’ casts are sent to another world featuring a school. They soon learn they are not alone in the new world as the cast of The Saga of Tanya the Evil were also sent to the world. Soon the cast of Re:Zero joins them inside the school. They had better introduce themselves to each other.
Sword Art Online: Alicization
Kazuto has been recruited to assist in testing an experimental FullDive machine, Soul Translator (STL), which has an interface that is far more realistic and complex than the previous machine he had played to help develop an artificial intelligence for the Ministry of Defense (MOD) named A.L.I.C.E. He tests the STL by entering a virtual reality cyberspace created with The Seed package, named UnderWorld (UW). In the UW, the flow of time proceeds a thousand times faster than in the real world, and Kirito’s memories of what happens inside are restricted.
Tonight’s Episodes: “Synthesis ” and “The 32nd Knight ”
After breaking the seal in her eye, Alice wakes up to find herself carried up to floor 95. Kirito initiates a tracking spell to locate Eugeo’s sword, finding it in a frozen bath hall on floor 90. To Alice’s horror, she finds Bercouli in a petrified state. But more disturbing scenes await as they climb ever higher.
As we know from last week, Eugeo has been seduced by evil aka the Administrator on floor 100, as Kirito and Alice discover to their horror when they next encounter him.
Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Y?sha no Nariagari)
Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.
Tonight’s Episode: “The Savior of the Heavenly Fowl ”
After gaining the magic stone from the alchemist’s dungeon to make magic thread for Filo, Naofumi’s party are tasked by the Trader to deliver herbicide to a village overrun by a monstrous plant. They learn that the cursed seed from the alchemist’s dungeon is what Spear Hero Motoyasu used to end the famine, but the sprouted plant came to life attacking the villagers. But Raphtalia and Filo don’t get on well together.
Overlord season 3
With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination. Without human conscience due to being undead, he is motivated only to continue searching for other players from Yggdrasil and to gain power to better protect the children and home of him and his forty former companions. Lord Ains Ooal Gown maintains his mantle of Overlord and leads the Great Tomb of Nazarick unto the world stage, directly into a vicious power struggle between two great empires.
Tonight’s Episode: “Invitation to Death ”
Royal Mage of Baharuth, Fluder Paradyne is told that the adamantite adventurers from Darkness, wish to meet him. Power shifts and investigayions begin. Meanwhile, the Worker group, Foresight, prepares to take on a mission exploring a newly discovered tomb within the borders of the Re-Estize Kingdom.
Dororo
From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.
Tonight’s Episode: “The Story of the Moriko Song, Part 2 ”
The Biwa-H?shi heads back to Mio’s camp with Hyakkimaru. His leg is badly damaged, but his voice has returned. Meanwhile, Dororo questions the other children about the type of work Mio does, but they are unaware. Hyakkimaru slowly adjusts to using his hearing and his voice with the help of Mio.
Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3
Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.
Tonight’s Episode: “Sin ”
Historia assures Eren that her father has good intentions even though he created problems for the Scouts and killed Pastor Nick. Rod then instructs Historia to touch Eren, triggering subconscious memories which leave Eren traumatized. The process also unintentionally triggers Historia’s memories. Can the scouts rescue them before all is forgot?
Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)
Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.
Tonight’s Episode: “White Album ”
The race to get the data disk from the statue in front of the Venice Station heats up in a very cold fashion. Hitman Ghiaccio and his stand White Album are trying to freeze Giorno and Mista within their car. As a last resort, Giorno crashed the car into the canal. Can they warm up enough to defeat the enemy, and retrieve the clue to delivering Trish safely to her father?
