Below is the program for the evening of Saturday June 8^th, 2019.

As winter comes upon us, this week we start screening a new regular series – “The Promised Neverland”, as well as the next season of chibi “Overlord”.
As you can see, we have mixed up the order of the night’s screening, attempting to find the optimal screening order. Anyone have suggestions how we can better it?

A reminder that the JAFWA AGM and committee elections are coming up in July. It is officially time to start thinking of your election pitches and how you will overlord it when you get elected to the JAFWA committee.

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue (My Housemate Is on My Lap, But Sometimes, on My Head)

Subaru, a 23-year-old introverted mystery writer, who adopts the cat Haru by chance. While he initially remains distant, they gradually bond with each other. Haru and Subaru rarely understand each other, but their misunderstandings lead to a common goal.

This evening’s Episode: “I Touch You ”

While defending their shared house, the cat Haru up-ends the alter to human Subaru’s deceased parents. This brings about childhood memories for Subaru. Perhaps even an acknowledgement of the emotional support that Haru provides him?

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime)

Living alone and never having had a girlfriend, 37-year-old Satoru Mikami is dissatisfied with how his life has turned out. But after dying at the hands of a robber, he awakens to a fresh start in a new world…as the lowest of the low – a slime monster.

This evening’s Episode: “The One Who Devours All ”

As our protagonists continue to destroy the invading orc army, the majin Gelmud suddenly appears, revealing he created the Orc Lord in order to turn him into a new Demon Lord – the Orc Disaster. Can the slime Rimiru defeat the evolving orc Geld?

One Punch Man season 2

An increase in villain activity has the Hero Organization worried that the “Earthdoom prophecy” will soon come to pass. In an effort to alleviate the overworked heroes, they turn to villains themselves for help. The decision looks ill-advised as at least one villain is more interested in helping the prophecy along than preventing it. Meanwhile, the invincible Saitama is still bored, trying to find a decent challenge.

This evening’s Episode: “Metal Bat ”

Garou the Human Monster’s attack on a Hero Association official has them scared. Class S hero Metal Bat finds that he has drawn bodyguard duty on one such official. The faster he encounters Garou, the sooner he can be rid of the annoying official. But it isn’t Garou who shows up. Meanwhile Saitama is looking for a challenge by sneaking into the Martial Arts tournament under an assumed identity.

Sword Art Online: Alicization

Kazuto has been recruited to assist in testing an experimental FullDive machine, Soul Translator (STL), which has an interface that is far more realistic and complex than the previous machine he had played to help develop an artificial intelligence for the Ministry of Defense (MOD) named A.L.I.C.E. He tests the STL by entering a virtual reality cyberspace created with The Seed package, named UnderWorld (UW). In the UW, the flow of time proceeds a thousand times faster than in the real world, and Kirito’s memories of what happens inside are restricted.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Legendary Hero ”

Eugeo confronts Bercouli Synthesis One and the terrible power of his sword. Can he do more than merely trap them both in ice using the Blue Rose Sword’s full memory release. Who is Prime Senator Chudelkin? Meanwhile Kirito and Alice take a rest before they continue climbing the wall, and Kirito has a story to tell.

Rising of the Shield Hero (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari)

Naofumi Iwatani was summoned into a parallel world along with three other people to become the world’s Heroes. Each of the heroes were respectively equipped with their own legendary equipment when summoned. Naofumi happened to receive the Legendary Shield, the sole defensive equipment, while the others received weapons capable of attacking. Unlike the other heroes who are fully supported by the kingdom and gain several strong allies each, Naofumi’s luck turns to the worse, shunned by everyone from the King to peasants, Naofumi is forced to train as a hero alone while working to make ends meet acquiring only the most pitiful of followers. As he little by little gain the trust and gratitude of the people with their heroic actions, Naofumi and his companions work hard to fulfill their mission as saviors of the world, while unraveling its deepest secrets.

Tonight’s Episode: “Filo ”

Melromarc’s summoning of the 3 Cardinal Heroes to fight the Chaos Waves is starting to have international ramifications. Meanwhile the Shield Hero is being downtrodden again, though Sword and Bow support him. Still a trip to the slave trader’s establishment may bring a new companion to the Shield Hero’s company. But Princess Malty and the Spear Hero will find other ways to destroy Naofumi’s happiness.

Overlord season 3

With his foundations now set in this new world, the first steps of Ains Ooal Gown’s master plan apparent begin to come to fruition. The value of Carne village and especially the political value of his alter ego Momon are reaffirmed; the “hidden” genius of his actions is continuously met with shock and awe by Demiurge, Albedo, the rest of his guardians, and even Ains himself at his “great wisdom.” His attempts to act in a way befitting the ruler of Nazarick, continuing to further cement his guardian’s loyalty, push him ever further down the path of not-so-intentional world domination. Without human conscience due to being undead, he is motivated only to continue searching for other players from Yggdrasil and to gain power to better protect the children and home of him and his forty former companions. Lord Ains Ooal Gown maintains his mantle of Overlord and leads the Great Tomb of Nazarick unto the world stage, directly into a vicious power struggle between two great empires.

Tonight’s Episode: “Giant of the East, Demon Snake of the West ”

Lupisregina has failed to report on the rising of the two forest guardians – Giant of the East and the Demon Snake of the West. So Ainz goes to investigate them personally.

Yakusoku no Neverland (The Promised Neverland)

Emma is an 11-year-old orphan living in Grace Field House, a small orphanage housing her and her 37 siblings. Life had never been better; with food that tasted gourmet, plush beds, snow-white uniforms, and the love of their “Mother” (the caretaker) Isabella, as well the litany of daily exams that Emma always aced with her two best friends Ray and Norman. The orphans are basically allowed to do whatever they want, except to venture out of the compounds or the gate that connects the house to the outside world. Then she finds out the truth. Determined to break out of Grace Field House, Norman and Emma partner up with Ray to peel away at the façade of the farm and find a way to escape with all their other siblings.

Tonight’s Episode: “121045 ”

In an orphanage known as “House”, 38 children spend their days playing games, studying, and taking part in tests until they are eventually adopted. One night, after six-year-old Conny is taken out for adoption by the House’s mother, Isabella, two of the smartest children in House, Emma and Norman, go to catch up with Conny to deliver a stuffed toy that she forgot. When they arrive at the scene, the two realise exactly why they had always been isolated from the outside world.

Dororo

From Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga. During the 1470s after the Wars of Onin and Bunmei in the Noto Peninsula of the Hokuriku District, Hyakkimaru, who lacks as much as 48 body parts, obtains a fake body and eliminates 48 monsters that were made from his body to retrieve his missing body parts, and regain his humanity.

This evening’s Episode: “The Story of the Cursed Sword ”

Dororo chats with the girl Osushi while Hyakkimaru stands outside, experiencing the feeling of rain for the first time. Suddenly, Hyakkimaru detects a demon sword and rushes off. It is a slightly different story when they are fighting a possessed swordsman, and a hungry sword that possesses whomever holds it.

Attack On Titan (Shingeki ni Kyojin) season 3

Eren and his companions in the 104th are assigned to the newly-formed Levi Squad, whose assignment is to keep Eren and Historia safe given Eren’s newly-discovered power and Historia’s knowledge and pedigree. Levi and Erwin have good reason to be concerned, because the priest of the Church that Hange had hidden away was found tortured to death, making it clear that the Military Police are involved with the cover-up. Things get more harrowing when the MPs make a move on Erwin and the Levi Squad narrowly avoids capture.

Tonight’s Episode: “Trust ”

Hiding out now that the Scout Regiment has been framed as traitors, Levi’s squad captures the two soldiers who tracked them who are no other than Marlo and Hitch, Annie’s friends in the Military Police. Hange rescues Flegel from the Military Police, who are trying to kill him to cover the truth that his father was killed by the Interior Police. Commander Erwin faces execution.

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Ougen no Kaze (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure – Golden Wind)

Set in 2001, two years after the events of Diamond is Unbreakable, Koichi Hirose is sent to Italy and tasked by Jotaro Kujo to search for Giorno Giovanna, an aspiring mafia gangster who is a son of Dio Brando. But as Dio possessed the body of Jonathan Joestar at time of his conception, Giorno is technically a Joestar and takes more after them than the father he never knew. The series follows Giorno as he joins the mafia organization Passione, moving up through its ranks with the intention of becoming its boss to improve life in Italy.

Tonight’s Episode: “Baby Face ”

Hitman Melone finds a sample of Bucciarati’s blood, then using his Stand Baby Face, and the genetic information of a woman on the train he spawns a remote-controlled baby Stand to track our heroes down. For Baby Face has the opposite power to Giorno’s Gold Experience.
