Event Afternoon before JAFWA Screening

JAFWA has the hall from about 12:30PM to 4:30PM, where it is make our own amusement time.

Does anybody have their own game machine and games they want their fellow JAFWAites to play? JAFWA will bring out the projector and screen. I am not certain we have access to the outdoor area, but we will try to keep you off the street.
In the past people have brought along video games and the hardware to play them, and sewing machines for cosplay creating. What do you want to do? Just so long as it fun, legal, ethical, and we don’t scuff the floor of the Hall.

Below is the program for the evening of Saturday September 30^th, 2017.

We say farewell to a couple of our regular series this week – “Atom: The Beginning” and “Poco’s Udon World”. Though we will preview a sporting anime this week – “Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun”, which roughly translates as “Cleanliness Boy! Aoyama-kun”.
It is that time of month when we survey you, our faithful JAFWAites, to find out what you like about our program. It will help us decide what to fill in the empty timelsots in October.

The end of 2017 is closing in upon us. We are taking suggestions for what JAFWA should screen on our End of Year marathon screening on Saturday 16^th December. What would you like to see?

Synopsis

Atom: The Beginning

This series is a prequel to Osamu Tezuka’s “Astro Boy” series, depicting the events up until the birth of Astro Boy. Two prodigies, Umatarou Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu, have spent endless amounts of time researching robots, eventually producing the robot A106.

This evening’s Episode: “Beginning” Finale

The robo-wrestling tournament is over, and A106 was the winner. A winner that was all but destroyed by the robot Mars. What can a robot with heart learn from this? Will Tenma and Ochanomizu repair the damaged A106? And where do they to now?

Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari (The Golden Furball of Udon Country) (aka Poco’s Udon World)

Souta Tawara was the son of a noodle restaurant owner. Born and raised in Kagawa Prefecture (a.k.a the Udon Prefecture), he had been living an uneventful life in Tokyo as a web designer. After his father’s demise he returns home to find the restaurant having gone out of business and a young boy that he names Poco hiding there. He grows fond of him and decides to take care of him and constantly worries about what would happen to Poco once he leaves. He regrets leaving his home and his father because of his selfishness and mentions it to his big sister when she expresses her regret of being unable give their father a grandchild. His time spent with Poco often reminds him of how his father lovingly took care of him, which further adds to his regrets.

This evening’s Episode: “Kakeudon” Finale

During the Takamatsu Festival, in front of witnesses, Poco reverts to Tanuki form. Souta had been trying to adopt a boy, trying not to recall that Poco was indeed a mystical shape-shifting tanuki. But now that the truth cannot be denied, why did Poco appear in human form before Souta in the first place?

The handsome young soccer genius named Aoyama is a Japan representative. His play style is “cleanliness.” He doesn’t tackle and doesn’t head the ball. If he’s doing a throw-in, he’ll only do it if he’s wearing gloves.

This evening’s Episode: “Aoyama-kun Is a Clean Freak!”

Fujimi high school doesn’t have the strongest soccer team, but now that Aoyama has joined expectations are looking up. However, Aoyama has a certain psychological condition that imposes difficulties, he is an extreme germophobe. A situation that amuses some of his team mates, and enrages others. But though it looks like Aoyama does not take soccer seriously, people are beginning to notice otherwise.

retro series from 1982 – Choujikuu Yousai Makurosu (Super Dimension Fortress Macross)

In 1999 a city-sized alien spacecraft crashes in South Ataria Island on Earth. Over the course of 10 years the military organization U.N. Spacy reverse-engineers its technology and rebuilds the spacecraft, naming it the SDF-1 Macross. In 2009 at the launch ceremony of the Macross, a space war fleet from the alien Zentraedi arrives in the solar system and identifies the Macross as a former battleship used by their enemies. Mistakes happen. Thus begins the war between Human and Zentraedi, led by the brave crew of the Macross.

This evening’s Episode: “Space Fold”

With Hikaru still reeling from the horrors he’s witnessed first hand from both sides, events take a turn for the worse when the space folding system of the Macross (a faster-than-light travel technology) is activated and an uncontrolled teleport occurs.

Lupin the Third – Part 4

The internationally infamous Arsène Lupin, master thief and unrepentant womanizer, continues to seek out ever more challenging heists to pull off. With him goes an eccentric band of misfits; Jigen the scruffy sharpshooter, Fujiko the femme fatal of dubious loyalty, and Goemon the stoic swordsman. And close on their heels no matter where Lupin and his gang end up, the unrelenting Inspector Zenigata. Determined to put Lupin and his cohorts in prison for the seemingly endless list burglaries and thefts they have already pulled off.

This evening’s Episode: “The Zapping Operation”

British special agent Nyx, unbeknownst to his family, is working undercover in Rome to break a kidnapping ring. Nyx discovers that the next shipment of kidnapped women will include his daughter. However Lupin and Jigen, who have casually stolen a car after a robbery, discover it is the one that is smuggling Nyx’s daughter. Various forms of misunderstanding will happen.

In the distant future, the discovery of the new mineral Orichalt has allowed humanity to expand beyond the Sol System. On the constant lookout for Orichalt, humanity has developed I-Machines, robots that operate in extreme environments. I-Machines function by transferring a human pilot’s consciousness into the robot’s operating system. While Alliance Academy student Maya Mikuri is in the middle of operating an I-Machine, she gets involved in an incident with pirates, and ends up serving as a crew member on an excavation company’s spaceship.

Tonight’s Episode: “Overstepping”

The Stulti crew try to rescue Ido, Alice and Maya but the sentient mass of rocks that encase them warps out taking Rick and Amanza with them. Inside the rocky sphere, Ido and Maya investigate an old wrecked probe ship, and ancient secrets may be compromised.

Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho (Starting the Magical Book from Zero/Grimoire of Zero)

Zero is a witch who is ignorant of the world and travels with a half-beast half-human mercenary who longs to be human. Witches and their sorcery are notorious throughout the land, though knowledge of the existence of magic remains elusive. Zero is going on a journey to search for a magical tome called “The Book of Zero” that hides a power that can destroy the world. The mercenary travels with her as her guard.

Tonight’s Episode: “Thirteen”

While investigating the death of all the sorcerers at Latette, a magical trap has teleported them to the lair of Zero’s old acquaintance Thirteen. Zero and Thirteen abruptly stop their fight when they hear a dinner bell, allowing more polite conversation to occur.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World)

Kazuma Satou wasn’t looking for anything beyond his simple high school shut-in existence. But one untimely death later and he finds himself before the goddess Aqua with the chance to be deposited in a fantasy kingdom that is in need of heroes to defeat a demon lord. Things don’t look good from the moment he arrives and so Kazuma decides to ditch the whole “save the world” thing and just try to become rich and live comfortably. Unfortunately, the various eccentric companions he is saddled with aren’t really helping with that goal.

This evening’s Episode: “A Conclusion to This Worthless Fight!”

Annoyed that Megumin had still been using his castle for explosion practice, the Devil King’s general Verdia the Dullahan has come to defeat our protagonist’s party. What can this bunch of screwballs do to survive an assault by an undead army?

Re: Creators

Souta Mizushino is a young high school student and anime fan who dreams of writing his own light novel. While looking to an anime for inspiration, the iPad he is watching it on sputters and drags him into the anime’s world, where he witness a battle between the anime’s character Selesia and a mysterious girl wearing a military uniform. After returning with Selesia, Souta discovers that other characters from different stories and forms of media were also brought to the real world, with some of them aligned with the military uniform girl, who promised them the ways to end the strife in their worlds and a way back home, unaware of her true intentions.

Tonight’s Episode: “The Usual Way, the Way Back An unpredictable story that no one knows where it’s leading to.”

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)
