Election Alert! We will be taking nominations for the JAFWA committee elections starting this Saturday. Are you a fully signed up member, who wants a chance of glory trying to serve the fickle needs of the JAFWA audience?

As you have seen, several regular series finished in May, and 3 more will finish next week. We are planning on starting a lot a regular new series in July, and tonight is almost the last chance to preview candidates. We will have two preview episodes tonight. And one new regular series that isn’t waiting for July.

Synopsis

Akagami no Shirayukihime (Princess Snow White of the Red Hair)

Shirayuki is a young pharmacist from the kingdom of Tanbarun who is cheerful, spirited and dedicated to her job. She also has brilliant red hair, which is very rare. When the first prince of Tanbarun decides to claim her unique beauty for himself, Shirayuki flees to the neighbouring kingdom of Clarines to start her life over. There may be eccentric nobility here as well, but there are also friends, and at least she can do her job.

Tonight’s Episode: “Because of Who You Are”

While in deep thought over his meeting with Izana, Zen gets into an accident and becomes injured. Mitsuhide goes to seek help from the Chief Herbalist, but instead encounters a strange plant and accidentally inhales it’s fragrance. The fragrance causes a deep part of Mitsuhide’s personality to emerge, causing his loyalty towards Zen to become stronger. While Shirayuki is tasked to find an antidote, Zen instead orders to have the medicine naturally leave his system.

Little Witch Academia

Akko Kagari enrolls into Luna Nova Academy, a school for young witches, after being inspired at a young age by a witch named Shiny Chariot, and often spends her days hanging with her classmates, Lotte and Sucy. However, she has trouble paying attention in class, doesn’t know how to ride her broom, and is often looked down upon for admiring Chariot, whom many believe gives the wrong impression about witches.

This evening’s Episode: “Luna Nova and the White Dragon”

While being forced to clean the academy’s tower following an argument in class, Akko and Amanda witness a horde of dragons carrying off the Sorcerer’s Stone, leaving Luna Nova without any magical power. Strangely, the academy staff does not react to this theft, instead accidentally revealing that this is part of an anticipated prophecy involving a dragon.

Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari (The Golden Furball of Udon Country) (aka Poco’s Udon World)

Souta Tawara was the son of a noodle restaurant owner. Born and raised in Kagawa Prefecture (a.k.a the Udon Prefecture), he had been living an uneventful life in Tokyo as a web designer. After his father’s demise he returns home to find the restaurant having gone out of business and a young boy that he names Poco hiding there. He grows fond of him and decides to take care of him and constantly worries about what would happen to Poco once he leaves. He regrets leaving his home and his father because of his selfishness and mentions it to his big sister when she expresses her regret of being unable give their father a grandchild. His time spent with Poco often reminds him of how his father lovingly took care of him, which further adds to his regrets.

This evening’s Episode: “Bukkake Udon”

Souta Tawara has reluctantly returned to his home town on the occassion of his father’s funeral. Though he has no intention of taking over the family Udon restaurant, to the disappointment of many fans of the restaurant. Though cleaning out the old shop reveals a child whose parents he can’t find. Looks like he might be looking after Poco for a while, sort of like the old fairytales.

retro series from 1992 – Tenchi Muyou – Ryo-ohki (No need for Tenchi)

Tenchi Masaki appears to be an average high school student. But opening a forbidden chamber in his grandfather’s temple results in his life becoming complicated by several otherworldy female beauties, few of whom have friendly regards. From the people who worked on Bubblegum Crisis who asked what if Mackey (Sylia’s brother) was a main character, reversing the Bubblegum scenario.

This evening’s Episode: “We Need Tenchi”

The girls head for Kagato’s ship to avenge Tenchi. Meanwhile, on Earth, Sasami senses Tenchi is in trouble and summons Tsunami, her own Juraian battleship, to save him from near-death. Mihoshi accidentally releases a 20,000-year-old scientific genius, Washu, from Kagato’s imprisonment.

Preview item – Alice to Zokroku (Alice and Zoroku)

Sana Kashimura, a little orphan girl who is one of the children that holds the power of “Alice’s Dream,” a special ability that enables her to materialize anything she imagines. After escaping a lab where she was a test subject, she ends up in the outside world where she encounters a grumpy old man named Zouroku, but she wonders if he will help her.

This evening’s double-length Episode: “The Red Queen Escapes”

Sana escapes from a research facility and with the help of two unknown benefactors, manages to escape the facility guards and teleport to Shinjuku. There, she meets Zouroku and attempts to enter into a deal with him. Zouroku refuses to make any deal with her and they are both attacked by Asahi and Yonaga, who have arrived to take Sana back to the facility.

S?ta Mizushino is a young high school student and anime fan who dreams of writing his own light novel. While looking to an anime for inspiration, the iPad he is watching it on sputters and drags him into the anime’s world, where he witness a battle between the anime’s character Selesia and a mysterious girl wearing a military uniform. After returning with Selesia, S?ta discovers that other characters from different stories and forms of media were also brought to the real world, with some of them aligned with the military uniform girl, who promised them the ways to end the strife in their worlds and a way back home, unaware of her true intentions

Tonight’s Episode: “The Wonderful Voyage I will remember everything that happened to me.”

One evening, S?ta Mizushino, a middle school student struggling to draw, watches his favorite anime series on his tablet. Just then, a strange glitch happens and Sota is transported to the anime’s world, where the lead character, Selesia Yupitiria, is battling against a mysterious girl. Narrowly escaping from the battle, Sota returns to the real world alongside Selesia, who becomes confused when Sota tells her she is a fictional character.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (Re: Life in a Different World from Zero)

Being teleported to a fantasy world means you’re the chosen one, right? Natsuki Subaru certainly thought so, but it seems he’s not the fated hero, he’s just another guy in a world full of wizards, warriors and demi-humans. Still, there are decent people in this world and Subaru quickly finds people willing to lend him a hand, people he wants to help in return. But how can a mere high school student hope to challenge the monstrous and magical forces of this world? After all he only gets one shot at this, right?

Tonight’s Episode: “The Self-Proclaimed Knight and the Greatest Knight”

Subaru’ “Return by Death” ability causes him to respawn back to the strategy meeting on the morning after the White Whale battle. Now aware that the cult can possess others, he formulates a new strategy to take out the fingers first before going after Betelgeuse himself. Wilhelm drops by the mansion to clear up the misunderstanding from the letter and to order the evacuation of the village.

Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) season 2

The entirety of mankind lives encased within a series of fortified walls which protect them from the Titans, giant humanoid monsters who devour people, that roam the world beyond the outer wall. But now, after nearly a hundred years of relative safety, new Titans have appeared. The security of the walls is a thing of the past, and mankind may be facing extinction.

Tonight’s Episode: “Close Combat”

Reiner and Bertholdt, friends from the 104th training cadre. Never laughed much at Erin’s heartfelt wish to kill each and every Titan. Now they are revealed as the Armoured Titan and the Colossal Titan that annihilated Erin’s childhood. And now they are trying to capture Erin and the injured Ymir, and take these two to their “hometown”. Not without a fight!

Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken – Stardust Crusaders (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure – Stardust Crusaders)

It’s 1989. Fifty odd years have passed since Joseph Joestar did battle with the immortal Pillar Men and now his Japanese grandson, Jotaro Kujo, finds his life turned upside down. A strange new ability awakens within his bloodline, granting him great power but threatening to kill his mother.

… An ancient enemy of the family has returned.

Tonight’s Episode: “D’Arby the Gambler, part 1”

Upon arriving in Cairo, Jotaro’s group heads to a café where they come across a man named D’Arby who claims to know where DIO’s mansion is. Not willing to give up the information for free, D’Arby suggests they should instead gamble for it with their souls on the line.
