Marathon End of Year Screening

Below is the program for the afternoon and evening of December 10^th, 2016.
We have a full program to overwhelm you, with a few little extras. And George from Gosnells Deli will attend with a sample of what Gosnells residents can acquire. The Dinner Break will be a little early.

This will be JAFWA’s last screening for 2016, until we return in January. So we are going to make it an extra long one, with screening starting from 1:00 PM.
From all the Suggestions we received, we have managed to construct a program of all new stuff, though some of it relates to previous JAFWA programs, plus a movie we paid royalties to screen, and end the night with a twist.

Synopsis

OAV – Angel Beats

Yuzuru Otonashi wakes to find himself in a strange high school setting. Otonashi has no memories prior to waking, but learns that the location is a strange afterlife and all of its inhabitants are deceased. He joins a group which rebels against the afterlife and its primary enforcer, Tenshi, a girl with supernatural powers. A young woman named Yuri Nakamura leads the group, called “Shinda Sekai Sensen” (Afterlife War Front).
The original TV series was screened by JAFWA in 2011.

This afternoon’s Episodes: “Hell’s Kitchen”

Set between episodes two and three during Golden Week, Yuri arranges for the SSS to go on a deadly picnic, which involves most of the members trying to kill each other with various traps and gadgets. Sensing an opportunity, Girls Dead Monster members Irie and Sekine conspire to kill Iwasawa and seize control of the band from her.

OAV – Suisei no Gargantia (Gargantia of the Verdurous Planet)

Galactic Alliance soldier Ledo faces a huge change in lifestyle and outlook when he is separated from his comrades and forced to make his way aboard the Gargantia, a floating city greatly removed from both the technology and the concerns of his home.
The original TV series was screened by JAFWA in 2013.

This afternoon’s Episodes: “Abandoned Fleet”

The Gargantia comes across an abandoned, derelict fleet and Ledo joins a small group sent there to investigate it while looking for treasures. Amy and her friends sneak aboard their ship and end up joining the search party.

Movie – Girls und Panzer

The students of Ooarai Girl’s High School are showing their skill at Sensha-do (tank martial arts). With new transfer student and former Sensha-do practitioner Miho Nishizumi to lead the way, they will pit themselves against the best from other schools around the world.
The original TV series was screened by JAFWA in 2013.

This afternoon’s Episodes: “Der Film”

After an exhibition match commemorating ?arai Girls High School’s victory in the 63rd sensha-d? tournament, returning to the ?arai school carrier, Anzu informs the team that despite their victory in the tournament, the Ministry of Education will not honor their promise to keep the school open, claiming that it was just a verbal agreement with no legal standing. The school ship is then seized for decommissioning but with help from Saunders, the sensha-d? team manage to keep their tanks out of the government’s hands. Now the battle to restore their school.

Movie – Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterun da (The Anthem of the Heart)

Long ago, the young girl Jun Narase dreamed of one day attending a ball at the glamorous castle on the hill. After once seeing her father driving out of that castle, she returned home to excitedly tell her mother, not realizing she’d just described her father’s infidelity. And so her family falls apart, and after her father tells her it was all her fault, she falls into despair until a strange egg tells her she can save herself from further heartbreak, and maybe even find her prince on a hill. All it would take is to forever seal away her dangerous voice. But eventually the heart will need to sing what the heart needs to say.

Movie – Bakemono no Ko (The Boy and The Beast)

There is the the human realm and the bakemono realm (“J?tengai”). In these two worlds which must not intersect, there lives a lonely boy in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward and a lonely bakemono. One day, the boy Ren gets lost in the bakemono world, becomes the disciple of the bakemono Kumatetsu, and is renamed Ky?ta.

Saitama is a superhero, a man of such incredibly refined fighting prowess he can defeat any opponent with a single punch. And he stands ever ready to defend the people of City A no matter what terror besets them. But when you dedicate yourself to your job so completely that your hair falls out, the last thing you want is for that job to become boring …

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Shadow that Snuck Up Too Close”

After the battle with Mosquito Girl in episode 2, Genos tails Saitama as he goes about his daily life in the hopes of finding out the secrets behind his overwhelming strength. This in turn leads Saitama to believe he has a stalker after Genos takes one of his french fries for research.

OAV – Mitsuwano (Three Rings)

Riko, Midori, and Mai work in an Inn in Kyoto. They are training to become maikos (apprentice geishas – traditional female entertainers who sing, dance, and perform). A festival is coming and the three must start practicing for it.

Saitama is a superhero, a man of such incredibly refined fighting prowess he can defeat any opponent with a single punch. And he stands ever ready to defend the people of City A no matter what terror besets them. But when you dedicate yourself to your job so completely that your hair falls out, the last thing you want is for that job to become boring …

Tonight’s Episodes: “The Student Who Sucks at Storytelling”

Saitama gives Genos a key to their apartment and they both mull over items to buy for dinner; however, upon remembering a limited time sale at two separate supermarkets, the pair split up. Unfortunately Genos gets mixed up with monsters and mobsters.

Preview episode – Thunderbolt Fantasy

Set in an Eastern fantasy setting, D?n F?i and her brother, guardians of a sword known as the Ti?n Xíng Jiàn, are pursued by the evil Xuán Gu? Z?ng clan, who seek to obtain the sword for their master, Miè Ti?n Hái. F?i escapes and finds herself in the care of the wandering swordsman, Sh?ng Bù Huàn, and a mysterious man named L?n Xu? Y?, who become her protectors from the pursuing Xuán Gu? Z?ng clan.

Tonight’s Episodes: “Code of Umbrellas”

One stormy night, D?n F?i and her brother D?n Héng, protectors of the Ti?n Xíng Jiàn, are pursued by the evil Xuán Gu? Z?ng clan. Although the clan’s leader, Miè Ti?n Hái, manages to kill Héng and retrieve the sword’s hilt, F?i manages to escape off a cliff. Meanwhile, a travelling swordsman named Sh?ng Bù Huàn comes across an umbrella covering a Buddha statue, where a peculiar man informs him that taking the umbrella will require him to do a good favor in return.
