We return to our usual program after last week’s delightful Valentine’s Day special. We at JAFWA hope you all enjoyed your Valentine’s Day.

In many East Asian cultures November 11 is considered the opposite of Valentine’s Day, as 11/11 can be thought of as all singles day. On the other hand Japanese confectionary company Glico promotes November 11 as Pocky day.

Synopsis

Fairy Tail

Magic and mayhem in the nation of Fiore. The members of the infamous mage’s guild Fairy Tail spend their days sorting out problems for the residents of Magnolia and battling the odd apocalyptic demon or dark guild. Of course they don’t let little things like that get in the way of having fun.

Tonight’s Episode:Crocus, The Flower-Blooming Capital

Whilst trying to make up for the time lost in the spirit world, Natsu and the others receive a visit from the Jellal, freed from his prison by former Grimoire Heart members Meldy and Ultear. The three have formed their own vigilante guild, Crime Sorciere. They believe something linked to the dark wizard Zeref lies within the arena of the Grand Magic Games, and they want Fairy Tail to check it out. As payment, Ultear puts those willing through an absolutely gruelling ritual to enhance their magical reserves.

Barakamon

Seishuu Handa is a new rising star in the world of professional, artistic, calligraphy. But when his pride and temper land him in trouble, he finds himself cooling his heels on the quaint little island of Gotou. Seishuu quickly finds the island’s residents to be both infuriating and invigorating in equal measure. Especially the diminutive Naru Kotoishi.

Tonight’s Episode:Kaette Kite Urishika (Glad You’re Back)” Finale

After impulsively declaring his “Star” piece to only be a practice run Handa nearly going crazy until a call from Naru and the others on the island restored his confidence and gave him the inspiration to create a new piece for the exhibition; “The Stone Wall”. Those same kids are keen to have Sensei back on the island, keen enough they’re prepared to clean his house. Handa’s mother, meanwhile, has her own subtle way of encouraging Handa not to return to the island.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun (Monthly Girl’s Nozaki-kun)

High school student Sakura Chiyo has a serious crush on her tall, stoic schoolmate Nozaki Umetarou. But when she finally plucks up the courage to tell him she always wants to be with him, she finds herself employed as his assistant. Turns out Nozaki is a shoujo manga artist, and by working alongside him Sakura gets to see her high school crush in action … and see the not-so-perfect inspiration for his stories.

Tonight’s Episode:The Man Who “Envisions” Love

After getting sucked into Mikorin’s Dating Sim obsession, and helping him prepare for a mixer he never ended up attending, its back to the normal routine for Nozaki. And that routine includes receiving visits from his editor, something that prompts Nozaki to go into a frenzy of house-cleaning in order to make a good impression. Sakura can only wonder why that might be, until Nozaki tells her about the editor he had before this one…

Log Horizon season 2

Life continues for Shiroe and the others trapped within the world of Elder Tale. The city of Akihabara is now prosperous and thriving thanks to the efforts and innovations of the adventurers. But prosperity does not guarantee safety, Shiroe’s skills have already been tested against the nefarious Nureha and her guild Plant Hwyaden, and now he must find a way to secure Akihabara’s future against those who would seek to claim it for themselves.

Tonight’s Episode:Shattered Wings

The raid in the depths of Palm has stalled. William Massachusetts wonders how he will find the words to encourage the members of Silver Sword whilst Demikas rages impotently at the realization Shiroe has saved him from death in battle. Back in Akihabara, Princess Lenissia is being introduced to some of the fun things Christmas has to offer by various female members of the Round Table guilds. But now, whilst so many of its powerful defenders are away, Akihabara has a new enemy within its walls. One that despises all adventurers …

Noragami (Stray God)

Hiyori Iki is introduced to the world of spirits and deities after her first encounter with Yato, a homeless war god, results in a near death experience. Now Hiyori needs the ambitious Yato to help stop her soul from disconnecting from her body, but a god who doesn’t even have a shrine, let alone worshippers, doesn’t really inspire much confidence.

Tonight’s Episode:Where Happiness Lies

After Tenjin, the God of Learning, hires Yato to get rid of some Phantoms for him, Hiyori learns something of the disparity between gods. And that Yato isn’t as heartless as he sometimes seems. After Yato and Yuki again spend then night in one of Tenjin’s shrines, Hiyori is there the next day to once again ask Yato to actually fulfill her request. Both she and Yuki are certain Yato will never achieve his dreams, which prompts Yato to reveal his newest weapon. And so far none of them are aware of the girl clad in white that watched over Yato and his Regalia as they slept.

Sword Art Online, Season 2

It has been a year since the victims of Alfheim Online were freed from their virtual prison, and more than a year since Sword Art Online was shut down. But now it has begun once again. A mysterious figure has been making appearances in the game Gun Gale Online, and other players drop dead in their wake. Kirito finds himself once again risking his life in the online world.

Tonight’s Episode:The Meaning of Strength

Kirito rescued Sinon from Death Gun’s reverse ambush, but for Sinon the panic did not fade, Death Gun is wielding the pistol that traumatized her in real life and she no longer believes she can wield her own weapon again. Having escaped Death Gun for now they hunker down in a desert cave to avoid giving away their location, share their personal stories of trauma, and wonder about why and how Death Gun goes about killing people.

Preview – Denki gai no Honya-san (The Electric Town’s Bookstore)

Nestled in the heart of Electric Town is Umanohone, a tiny little bookstore. Here the quirky and eccentric staff work to keep their shelves stocked and their customers happy amidst the mania of their day to day lives.

Tonight’s Episode:Love and Eros for All

A new shipment of manga has arrived and it’s all hands on deck as the staff work to get them shrink-wrapped and on to the shelves for their customers. The work is dull and tiring, and for some staff members who haven’t been getting enough sleep that’s not a good combination. But Hio gets called out of the back room to help out front, there is a suspicious character hanging around in the 18+ section …

Preview – Death Parade

The Quindecim is a bar, accessible only by a pair of elevators. Within this stately and impressive establishment the bar is tended by a man known as Dequim, with the assistance of a small but skilled staff. No one comes here alone, and no one remembers how they ended up here … at first. But the result is always the same; the guests must play a game against each other, and the stakes could not be higher.

Tonight’s Episode:Death Seven Darts

Machiko and his wife find themselves in the lobby of the Quindecim. Each grateful at least to see a familiar face, even if they don’t know where they are. Once they are seated, the bartender introduces himself and asks what they can remember, but all they can recall is being on their honeymoon. Satisfied by their answer, the bartender then explains the rules of the bar. And at the suggestion that they must risk their lives in a game the pair immediately turn around and head back to the elevators. But they won’t work, and there seems to be no other exit from this place …

Gunbuster

Takaya Noriko wants to follow in the footsteps of her father and travel the vastness of space, and she has enlisted in a mecha training academy to fulfil that dream. But there is more to the academy than just training skilled astronauts, there is an alien race out there with its sights set on Earth. Noriko and the other trainees will be fighting for the survival of the human race.

Tonight’s Episode:Launch!! The Incomplete Ultimate Weapon!

The Exelion’s first encounter with the aliens also includes a shocking discovery; the aliens use, and destroy, suns as incubators. Further study leads the science officers to conclude that the aliens see mankind as a virus that they, the galaxy’s immune system, must destroy. For Noriko her first sortie is a horror show, as the male pilot she was teamed up with, Toren Smith, is killed in part due to her inexperience. So now she spends all her time training with Coach, and the other girls are beginning to gossip.

Psycho-Pass 2

Makishima Shougo is dead, and Akane Tsunemori still works for Public Security. With a new junior inspector and two new Enforcers she struggles to protect the public from the latent criminals in their midst, whilst hiding from them the horrible truth of the Sybil System. But a new menace walks the streets, a new threat that once again cannot be judged by Sybil. And this time they’re not just a lone psychopath, this time they’re recruiting.

Tonight’s Episode:Unforbidden Games

Inspector Aoyanagi is dead, executed by fellow officers who blindly killed not just one of their own but also every single witness to what happened within the Mental Health facility. Kamui has learned what he wanted to know; even Inspectors can be judged by a Dominator. Akane has recruited the incarcerated professor Saiga to help with this case, starting with interrogating the uncooperative politician Masuda. And the kidnapped Inspector Shisui, despite everything Kamui has done to her, is now his devoted follower.
