The tentative JAFWA program for Saturday 28th September 2013 is below. To be held in the Collins Street Community Center on Collins Street just off Canning Highway in South Perth.

Synopsis

Nodame Cantabile: Finale

Nodame, Chiaki and their friends continue their careers in the world of music; Chiaki striving for greatness as a conductor, and Nodame striving to equal his talent so as not to be left behind. Chiaki is now a professional conductor, and Nodame is attending an elite musical school in France. For Chiaki his professional life has begun, for Nodame the moment of truth is fast approaching.

Tonight’s Episode:Lesson 2

Cherubs, fairies, black rabbits, and her music instructor as a cheeky Mandrake root. Nodame awakens from a very odd dream and decides it was the result of both joy and stress at the news of getting her very first Salon concert. Chiaki must be informed! At the moment Chiaki is looking at apartments, his referral from Nina guaranteeing approval from the Real Estate agent. Things become problematic when Nodame gets home, ready for a big celebration, to discover that Chiaki is moving out.

Fairy Tail

Magic and mayhem in the nation of Fiore. The members of the infamous mage’s guild Fairy Tail spend their days sorting out problems for the residents of Magnolia and battling the odd apocalyptic demon or dark guild. Of course they don’t let little things like that get in the way of having fun.

Tonight’s Episode:Bye Bye, Edolas

The king has been defeated, the royal army has fled, and Nightwalker is incapacitated. Yet there is no celebration. Mystogan has reversed the effects of Anima, sending magic back to Earthland. But the loss of all magic is throwing the people of Edolas into a panic. Mystogan asks Pantherlilly to calm the people of Edolas by killing the villain responsible. Namely himself. Whilst they argue over sacrifices to be made, and the nervous Nady listens in on their conversation, everyone else heads towards the capitol city in order to find out what future awaits the realm of Edolas …

Uchyuu Kyoudai (Space Brothers)

As kids Mutta and Hibito Nanba made a promise, that they would both become astronauts. 19 years later Hibito is on the verge of fulfilling that promise but Mutta is not doing nearly so well, that is until he is accepted into Japan’s astronaut training program.

NOTE: decision time – should we continue screening “Space Brothers”for the full 64 episodes, or take a break at the end of the current story arc.

Tonight’s Episode:A Long-Awaited Glimpse of the Sky

The final task within the sealed chambers, select two members from each team to be the astronaut candidates. Mutta assumes the purpose of the test is to see if they can make necessary sacrifices, but that doesn’t make the process any easier. So instead he goes with some advice Aunt Sharon gave him as a kid, “go with whatever will be fun”. Team A choose their candidates by Rock, Paper, Scissors … and the winners are decided in just one round.

Movie: To Aru Hikushi e no Tsuioku (Recollections of a Certain Pilot)

Charles Karino is a mercenary pilot in the employ of the Levamme Kingdom, a place where his ethnic background draws derision and bullying. In spite of this his piloting skill has earned him a very important mission. He must fly a member of the Levamme royal family by seaplane across enemy lines, with no escort, and to the mainland.

A thousand years into the future all mankind possesses psychic powers, and the people live in idyllic splendor. But the path that led to this tranquil life was not so perfect, and the world that Saki and her friends live in may not be as gentle and pleasant as it seems.

Tonight’s Episode:Tokyo

Inui, sole survivor of the Wildlife Protection team sent to wipe out the Robber Fly colony, tells his story to Saki and Satoru. How he escaped the Fiend by mimicking the speech of a queerat and how he was brought to the temple by someone else after collapsing in the forest. That someone was Kiroumaru, the missing general of the decimated Giant Hornet colony. As they listen to his story, a monk brings Saki a box left for her by her parents. Within is a note and a pigmy Minoshiro, a library terminal designed for one job only. As members of the library Saki’s parents had access to classified information, including the location of ancient human weapons capable of mass slaughter … or of killing a Fiend.

Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

The entirety of mankind lives encased within a series of fortified walls which protect them from the Titans. giant humanoid monsters who devour people, that roam the world beyond the outer wall. But now, after nearly a hundred years of relative safety, new Titans have appeared.The security of the walls is a thing of the past, and mankind may be facing extinction.

Tonight’s Episode:Eyes Yet to be Seen: The Eve of the Counterattack – Part 1

Trost has been reclaimed, albeit at great cost, and Eren awakens chained up in a dungeon cell. His first visitors are Commander Erwin and Captain Levi of the Survey Corps, who are impressed by Eren’s fervor. However they alone cannot get Eren unchained and out of his cell, and whilst he languishes in the dark the story of ‘the Titan Allied with Humanity’ is beginning to circulate amongst the populace. The Military Police are not impressed by the idea of Eren as their savior, nor do they intend to let the Survey Corps get him. They intend to kill him.

Psycho-Pass

In a future where the psychological profiling system Sybil determines your place in society, or your removal for the good of society, new police force recruit Akane Tsunemori finds herself facing both the challenge of catching madmen loose in society, and of working alongside those deemed half mad already. All the while dealing with the consequences of a society that will lock you up or kill you for thinking bad thoughts…

Tonight’s Episode:The Town Where Sulfur Falls

Kougami and Akane rush through heavy traffic, lights and horns blaring. Seven hours ago, footage of the assault of a woman on a public street by a man in one of Makishima’s helmets went viral. At the same time, truckloads of helmets were being handed out to people in the shadier parts of town. Soon there are dozens of criminals walking the street, utterly immune to enforcement droids and thus free to steal, smash and kill as they please. But even good, law abiding citizens have limits, even they can only be pushed so far …
